KIMA - Yakima, WA : Mustang clips car, rolls over at busy Yakima intersection | Local & Regional | KIMA CBS 29 - News, W

Speed wasn't a factor? Exactly why was the Mustang trying to pass if not to go faster? Obviously the driver was tailgating and tried to whip around the car to pass, but misjudged when it was safe to cut back into the lane. They ought to be charged with reckless driving, people seriously need to learn to slow down. I don't know how the police can say speed wasn't an issue...

I totally agree with the idea that it should be the city paying to cover up the tags. If not that, at least don't have the audacity to fine the citizen who is the victim in all of it. It's pretty horrible in my opinion to just kind of shift the problem like this onto people.

I recognize that wood gazebo, lattice-work behind the fence. This house is directly northeast to my grandfather's home before he passed away. He had a constant problem for the last decade of gang members tagging his fence which sat along a small avenue that leads to the intersection this house sits on. The problem is that both areas are basically big open spaces, and scream, "Paint me" to any of the thugs. My grandfather would just leave it be until it filled with a bunch of color and nothing that would be painted on it could even be read, and it would stop. You can't do this now of course without it being an eye sore and also being fined by the city. I notice the new owners frequently white wash it every couple of months.

I still don't see it as right to encourage kids to snitch out their peers for money. It's even worse when they're convinced that it is for "safety" or "for their own good" or something. Hitler youth anyone? Besides that, we shouldn't be encouraging the kids to put themselves at risk. So let's say Jose sees Kevin selling coke to Steve. Jose rats Kevin out, and gets his CrimeStopper reward; then he shows up at school with some new shoes or a new cell phone or something. Steve and Kevin have already worked out, "Who could have seen us and snitched," and oh guess what, it's Jose and his nice new shoes. Do you really think there won't be repercussions for that? Do you people really want your kids to have to start thinking like confidential informants? Snitches get stitches. So I don't want my kid to be a snitch. Why don't you do your fucking job and not endanger the kids. To me it's disgusting to even think about using them for this, putting them at risk, when its the adults job to be keeping them safe. Then to hide behind the idea of, "Well, they want to report it, because they feel safer," while in the same breath acknowledging the fact that we're just tempting them with the cash reward. We all know that half of these kids wouldn't dare to put themselves at risk if it weren't for the temptation of money. Kudos to Davis for not involving our kids in this crap and providing safer, more appropriate means for the students to report crimes. I think it's sick to use the kids as little informants under the guise of making it "safer" for them. All you're doing is convincing children to put themselves at risk for money.

KIMA - Yakima, WA : Yakima Police firing guns more than ever before | KIMA CBS 29 - News, Weather and Sports - Yakima, W

I haven't found anything questionable about the YPD's use of force this year ( or in others ) but to deny that there isn't a large amount of cases every year where a citizen is questionably shot elsewhere is to just be ignorant. I mean, also consider police brutality on the whole... Look at the case out of Spokane, that man was beaten to death in 2006, and only now someone has been convicted for it? How many other cases are around like that we don't even know about because they're not the big headline yet, or because they're headlines in some other small town? jb98908, here is an idea for a book title you could introduce to SPD: How To Shoot an Innocent Man in The Back and Get Away With It. They can even help you write it.

Yeah, here's another important thing: Don't ride in a car with a driver who is drunk. Also, it seems pretty ridiculous to me that it takes 2-4 hours to process a DUI. Why? For that matter, when an officer arrests a person for DUI, why is that officer then pulled off the street without a replacement? Seems to me that it should take all of 45 minutes to process a DUI. 15 minutes to take them to jail, 30 to get them to cooperate, booked and in a cell, and then 14 to get back on the street. What in the world is it that's causing the time to be so high? Probably some ridiculous piece of red tape or something.

KIMA - Yakima, WA : Woman arrested for pot in Union Gap says police went too far | KIMA CBS 29 - News, Weather and Sport

Dispensaries are illegal statewide? Since when? Also, when did a local "moratorium" ever supersede state law? I hope she gets a good lawyer and sues your asses. The irony about this, is it seems like the DEA doesn't even care as much about it as local authorities do. The Sherriff's department is the one that got them down to that little pot-expo that they first featured Tricia in. Now the union gap police called them down there. So, Tricia... Not to be a dick, but maybe try this in a town that doesn't have a DEA office right downtown? That way the two-bit local sheriff and the rest of the dummy brigade won't be able to tattle-tale on you and get the feds in to bust up the party whenever they feel like sending a message. It's funny to me that law enforcement is all gung-ho about, "Oh, we don't make the laws, we just enforce them." Well, it doesn't seem they're so impartial on this particular law now does it. Oh, the Sherriff may say, "Well, it's still against the law federally..." But guess what, he's not here to enforce federal law. Neither is the YPD or the UPD. That's why they need to tattle-tale to the DEA to be able to "enforce" the law, because they have absolutely no jurisdiction to arrest someone on a federal offense without the DEA there. Whether you're against or for medical marijuana, everyone should pull the wool from over their eyes and look at how the officials are just desperately thrashing about. The voters wanted it legal for medicinal use, but that is not good enough for the powers that be who want it to remain illegal. So now they have to come up with "moratorium's" and resort to turning anything like this into a federal matter, because it's none of their business and they cannot stand for the laws the voters elected. So kudos, Tricia for being an example of just how desperate the authorities are getting.
