Now YOU learn to read....and shooting these animals with a bow for "competition" is still inhumane and disgusting. I know all about culling herds, and although some of you need to provide food for your cave dwelling relations...most of us do not. There's nothing noble about doing this, and to show so much joy and macho attitude about dispatching an animal is cruel. If you can't live without bear, deer or elk meat, just go and do it, take care of it, fill your freezers and then shut-up about it. And don't even tell me some of you Great Hunters don't go up and stay sober. I know very well most do not...and it either comes from a bottle or a maryjane...but it all comes from having to prove how big and smart you all think you are. It's not being "Disney"..it's being compassionate on something that has to be done, and in all honesty, not being done with pride or kindness.
When I was in archery competitions (many years ago)...the object was to hit a target. Not a living, breathing animal. Why do they need to kill deer and bears? Those are a lot bigger then a paper or clay target. I think Sarah Palin has a new girlfriend living in La Grande.
I don't get it. Why carry a dead poor animal?
I still don't see how this is a "mental illness". I understand what you're saying about sub-categories in the DSM...and if that's the case, instead of being given hormones to begin the transitioning process, why aren't they treated for their mental illness? I don't think reassignment surgery will fix a mental illness in that case. Of course, if there's deformed genitals, and DNA shows that a young man for instance is actually female, reassignment would be called for. I agree with that....but not coming from my pocket.
I have a question....this is the first I've heard that this gender identity problem is considered a "mental illness". Everything that I've read says that it's a natural occuring "oops" of nature. Extra DNA, or lack of, that sort of thing. So all those people who have gone under the knife for gender changes, and all the years of prescription hormone replacement therapies to make them what they were meant to be, they are all living with a mental illness???? So...Sam Adams proposes to tax Portland residents to help pay for gender identity surgeries for city workers...are they suffering from mental illness too? I live out of Portland...but there's no way I'd be paying for anyone to change themselves from male to female. Don't get me wrong....I desperately feel sadness for them. It must be a horrible life to know you're someone you were not meant to be. I can't imagine and they have all my sympathies. But why should we have to pay for that? I'm not responsible for the way they were born. And like someone said...if that's what we'll be needing to pay for with our taxes...I won't pay them either.
Quit grandstanding. There should not be anything political or religious brought into this. This is a natural thing going on. Sermonizing is stupid for this kind of tragedy.
