KATU - Portland, OR : City of Vancouver considering banning high-flying fireworks | Local & Regional | KATU.com - Portland

How about fining people who start fires with fireworks? Use that money to pay for the additional labor. Responsible people should be able to continue to celebrate our nation's independence in the same way they have for years. Obviously this isn't a new holiday, people and pets have been dealing with the noise for a long time, it's only a few days out of the year, good grief.

KATU - Portland, OR : Some Washington shoppers head to Oregon for cheaper booze | Business | KATU.com - Portland News, Spo

I don't, but someday if my budget allowed me to it seems like it would be a great job! I understand that Costco supported 1183 purely for money, but it is monumental that they overturned state run liquor. So Costco and I became friends because we had a common enemy (so to speak). Personally, I would rather pay 10% more for my liquor if that's what it would take to stop the government from selling it, I (obviously) strongly believe that the government should not be competing with the people in the market place.

I've never bought liquor in Oregon before (although I think that will be changing in the future thanks to your good research), I was just saying that the current prices in Washington are similar to cheaper than the pre-1183 prices in Washington. As a Washingtonian I just wanted to point out that I disagree with this article, and I think it's based on a false premise. Prices went down or stayed the same in Washington in my experience, so why would people be unhappy with the results of 1183 or be flocking to Oregon? If they switched it back to govmnt run tomorrow, and prices stayed the same or rose slightly in Washington, would Washingtonians then be flocking back to Washington to buy their liquor? As I don't buy my liquor in Oregon, the prices have gone down for me and it's WAY more convenient now, so I'm not at all unhappy with the affects of 1183 and I don't feel duped and I suspect that a majority of Washingtonians agree with me and therefore, once again, I disagree with the article.

The liquor that I've seen and bought since 1183 went into affect has been cheaper than before. Just because someone (in this case the media) says something doesn't make it true. I bought a fifth of fireball from Albertsons, tag said $15.98, total price was around $22.05, it costed around 24-25 dollars from the state run liquor stores. Also, a fifth of smirnoff at safeway is about $10.50, with taxes that will come to about $15-$16, in the state run liquor stores it costed $15.95, so in my experience liquor is cheaper now, thank you costco and I'm glad I voted for 1183.

as far as I can tell it doesn't affect me if my neighbor smokes pot so I don't care, not sure why people vilify it. The news is full of violent crimes like rapes, shootings, and hit n runs; other than the current witch-hunt, pot doesn't really make the news and in my opinion isn't newsworthy.

KATU - Portland, OR : Stripping naked at airport was the \'right thing to do,\' man says | Local & Regional | KATU.com - P

Last time I took the kids to Ringling bros circus there were protesters yelling obscenities and hateful words and using mock blood on banners. I would rather have had my kids in the airport on this particular day than be around those hate mongers outside the rose garden. My kids haven't been taught yet that a naked body is a very evil thing, so to them it's just like, "OK that's inappropriate and that guy is acting ridiculous."

Right thing to do, way to go John Brennan. If it's OK for the TSA to view a naked picture of us or grope our private areas that's just as much a violation as making us strip naked. Why would I care if John Doe screener sees me naked or if everyone around me sees me naked, either way i'm being violated, this only exposes the violation! Way to go, can't wait till people come to their senses and this nonsense is put to rest.

KATU - Portland, OR : Analysis: Legalizing pot in Wash. could raise $560 million in taxes | Local Politics | KATU.com - Po

I think that taking the taboo out of pot and treating it like a medical issue like smoking could really reduce teen consumption. I think teens have an easier time saying no to cigs to their friends than pot because of the in your face anti-smoking advertising campaign, which could start with pot once they legalize it and get funding for the campaign.

It really bothers me how the admin(s) silently censors this forum, I mean with the click of a button a form letter could be sent to the registered e-mail address identifying the post that has been deleted. At least notify us. It would be really helpful to be given a reason for the deletion, but hey I'd be happy with a notification.

Well i'm still able to post here (hopefully), but just not able to respond to nobullplease's ron paul quotes. My response was suggesting that he/she post some context or some additional comments rather than just some old newsletter quotes which could very well be positive given context. Also that it would be nice of he/she responded to previous responses in different articles of the same quote posts instead of just repeatedly posting the quotes by themselves.
