Agreed. I feel like the posters over here are acting like a bunch of liberals wanting to crucify the upright leader in the limelight without all the facts. I can't believe I'm saying that the HuffPo got it right this time.... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/onward-state/sandus...

Big Government : Thursday Open Thread: Paterno-Infamy Edition

It is a complete injustice that an organization places itself above the law at the expense of others (especially innocent children). I am a Penn Stater as are many of my family and friends. McQueary had the moral obligation to go to the police, and JoePa had a moral obligation to encourage him to do so, but JoePa was not the eye witness. It is an outrage that he has become the sole fall guy here in the media (including this post). I can't believe that I am in agreement with a HuffPo columnist, but there you have it. He says it better than I ever could. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/onward-state/sandus...

Agree with you 100%. JoePa was let go not b/c of his moral failure, but b/c of the boards fear of the court of public opinion and loss of money from donors. In the media, JoePa has become the rapist. No one is talking about Sandusky or the vicitims. Typlical MSM BS.

Big Journalism : Time Magazine Columnist Accuses Herman Cain of Being 'Black Clown' to Appease White Conserv

9-9-9 encourages thriftiness and savings. You will take home more money from your job....items will end up costing less....you have the freedom to decide what to do with your money. There are no federal sales taxes on used goods..including homes and cars. You either don't get it or you just don't like it that there will always be rich people and there will always be poor people. Churchill spoke the truth...“The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.” I see you prefer the latter.

Big Journalism : Katy Bar the Door, Rick Perry Prays for the Nation in Public

Jesus taught us how to pray and it included asking for our daily bread. "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." Matthew 6:9–13

Big Hollywood : Why Modern Hollywood Villains Stink

This is the very problem with moral relativism. There can be no evil because recognizing evil causes you to exam the evil in your own life. And when you don't recognize evil, you actually allow it to thrive. This is why I love the Coen brothers so much. Their writing puts evil on full display. They don't necessarily answer the "why" part, they let you think about that. And when you think about it, you realize that we are all capable of evil. So one of my favorite villains is the hitman in No Country for Old Men. And for fun, I just love Jaws from James Bond, plus he changes his ways, what's not to love about a good redemption story.:)

Big Hollywood : Daily Gut: On Tolerance

Christianity is not a moral code to live by. I am a Christian because I believe that I am a sinner and Jesus died to forgive those sins thus making me acceptable in the sight of God. We are only ineffective against non-believers because they do not yet believe and are working towards making themselves acceptable. As a Christian I don't have to work at anything. I choose to try and serve and live morally out of gratefulness and humility for what Jesus has done for me in the hopes that others may believe. Anyone can be moral, but if you believe that it is your morality that is what "saves" you, you will be tirelessly and endlessly working at it usually leading to "lie, cheat, steal, kill to achieve" as you say. P.S. I too am a fan of Rand and think that her view on individual responsibility and ethics converge with a better society (and Christianity!). But I diverge with her view that it is our achievements that "save" us because their is no such thing as mercy. You can read more on that here: http://www.desiringgod.org/resource-library/artic...
