KOMO - Seattle, WA : Schrammie: $6 million for an animal overpass?!? | Ken Schram | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaki

I think this is a wonderful Idea but maybe there are spots, other than Redmond, that could use it more. Say up north where are are more forests and land or down more towards the Nisqually valley. You hear of more people hitting deer and animals in those areas, than you do in Redmond.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Ken Schram: Pharmacists are not our moral gatekeepers | Ken Schram | Seattle News, Weather, Sports,

Exactly! It is just like a therapist or a priest taking confession. They are there to listen and provide the resources that they think will help; whether or not the person uses these things or is doing things in their personal life that they agree with, it doesn't matter. Their job is to do just that, provide resources, they knew that when they decided to go into that job. I don't think someone with diabetes should be downing White chocolate mochas all the time but I have to give the customer what they want and serve it to them. I also don't agree with people spending money they don't have and choosing to buy a bunch of clothes over, maybe paying for their gas. But I work in a store where we need to make our days, who am I to tell them, "Ya know you really shouldn't be purchasing this." It is not my place to pass judgement on what they are choosing to do. In your personal life, you can make the choices to follow your own beliefs and provide people your insight and give them resources but if they don't want it, there is nothing you can do.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Starbucks CEO paid $16 million in 2011 fiscal year | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, Sport

Exactly, and the next time people want to complain about the prices going up, think about how many drinks Starbucks has to remake because the person ordered the wrong thing or at the last minute decided they wanted it iced instead of hot. This is really expensive milk and flavoring going down the drain. Or when people complain that they have to pay the extra 50 cents for a flavor when they are only getting "half" or "one pump" They have to have someway to pay for that syrup, if they let everyone have that "one pump" for free soon they go through a whole bottle and didn't make any money for it.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Bill calls for random drug tests for police, firefighters | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather

If these people are enforcing the drugs laws on the public, then, certainly, the laws should be enforced on them. It makes perfect sense to me. This could also help detect dirty cops, which is better for us anyway. There have been cases of undercover police officers getting addicted to drugs because of their work; this would be a great thing to implement. It would get those officers the help they need to get clean.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : 2 Tacoma elementary schools to close | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News | KOMO News | Lo

The school I worked in last year was the exact same way, pretty much always had right around 280 to 300 students. They had empty classrooms too, but great class sizes, all the kids knew each other, and there were no need for buses because the school is so small, it just feeds into a neighborhood. There is a very tight knit community built around that school and it is an amazing thing to see. I certainly think that the city could have chose to cut back some spending for the schools in come other way. Maybe if they had excess paras, or didn't need as many bus routes or something. I don't know, I guess it is sad that 2 schools had to shut down but hopefully they can relocate everyone and this will help the school district from having to cut even more jobs all around.

No, this was a tragedy. Accidents are things that can't be prevented, they just happen. This POS could have prevented this, by choosing NOT to drink Half a Bottle of Vodka before driving at a high rate of speed on one of the busiest freeways, at night, when it was raining! He may not have had intent, but the choices he made caused this to happen.

Their car wasn't even stalled for FIVE MINUTES, so even if they had wanted to move or had planned on pushing it to the shoulder, they would have had no time. All they had time for was to call 911 before they got hit. And frankly, I don't care whether they were in the middle of I-5. This jerk off of a drunk had a HALF EMPTY BOTTLE of vodka in the car, that is crazy! He would have hit a moving car at that point. I am just glad he didn't get sentenced the original 5 years that was mentioned. I hope they don't let this pos out on parole. It baffles me that we have such strict laws when it comes to selling liquor but once people get their hands on it, our government lets them have a free for all with peoples' lives!

One of the reasons for me, that 10th grade was fun! How come this wasn't covered in the Federal Way Communities section?! This is truly sad to me.
KOMO - Seattle, WA : No butts about it: Franciscan Health to refuse jobs to smokers | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Brea

I agree with this, even though I am supporting the no smoking rule that Franciscan is imposing. They should make sure their employees aren't addicts and heavy drinkers and that they don't eat out all the time. I said in my post earlier, I have an easier time listening to someone tell me how to be healthy if they are making healthy choices themselves. I am not really thinking about the effects all this has on insurance, but maybe that is because of my age haha

KOMO - Seattle, WA : No butts about it: Franciscan Health to refuse jobs to smokers | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Brea

I have nothing against smokers, a lot of my friends smoke; they are always like, "Never start, it is so hard to quit!" Well if you need a job this is a good way to quit! haha But to my point; I think that this is a good idea, especially because we are talking about a business that is telling people to be healthy! These are your doctors and nurses; I know I personally have an easier time listening to a doctor who is in good health themselves! And yes, smoking is legal but so is drinking if you are 21 and older; but guess what? If you show up to work with alcohol in your system, you are going to get fired. And people may say, "Well that is stupid, you are drunk, you shouldn't be working." But you know there are those people out there that will argue how they can drink a lot and function just fine. Okay, well do we really want them working there anyway! Obviously cigs and alcohol are two different things, but we can't say this is stupid because they are legal; a lot of substances are legal but if you are using them while working, businesses tend to not like that. I think if this was for any other company, it wouldn't make sense, but because they are pretty much telling the employees to practice what they preach, than I'm all for it!

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Green River Killer to face new murder charge, but not death penalty | Seattle News, Weather, Sports,

I had learned in one of my classes in college, and maybe it has changed over the past 3 years, that it actually cost the state more money to execute someone then it does to keep them locked up in prison for the rest of their life. If anyone knows if this is still true, I would love to know! I honestly think it is good that we didn't just run off and kill this guy. He is leading people to bodies and it is bringing closer to things, If we would have killed him and stumbled upon these bodies later, that could have led them to be looking for a different killer; possibly charging someone else who was innocent.
