After re-reading the rules for complex units and instant death, it seems to me that instant death has no relevance to wound allocation at all. It is after the wound allocation is finished and saves has been made that the special rule for instant death model removal occurs. So basically RayJ seems to be spot on.

I'm a bit fuzzy on exactly what you meant when you referred to 1-wound guys, so I would just like to clarify: as far as I can tell, Instant-death attacks on 1-wound units are treated exactly like any other attack in regard to wound-allocation. Right?

I'm pretty sure you misinterpreted "What's the problem though when you take Crowe out? Oh hey look, no scoring left" in the same way I did when I first skimmed this article. Without my morning coffee it sounded like killing Crowe stopped the Purifiers from being scoring. The author was of course referring to removing Crowe from the list. Anything else would make Crowe the worst special character in the game.

Yes, the drop pod is the only thing that allows combat squadding AFTER they deploy, but there is nothing in the books (excluding the faqs) that prevent other units that deploy from reserves to combat squad at the moment they deploy.

However, the entry in the FAQ is not clear-cut, mainly whether they refer to not being able to combat squad at the point they are put in reserves, or if they mean putting something in reserves mean they cannot combat squad when they are finally deployed. Since the question is in regard to combat squadding before a unit is deployed, I honestly don't believe the intention is that arriving from reserves prevent combat squadding.

As for drop pods, do this

They cost next to nothing to build, and when you've made a few I would say they take about the same time to cut and assemble as a regular drop pod. Of course, the one thing that is lacking is the moving doors. If that is a problem, model them with the doors open in the first place, since a drop pod with closed doors really is just for display purposes.

Of course, in this list hiding behind a Wagon wall is at worse only half effective, since there is no KFF in the list. But they bring scary scoring targets to the table, and can keep up with the rest of the units speedwise.

As far as i know, GW clarified that anyone who owns the original book can use allies, while anyone else is stuck with the pdf-version. However, I don't remember where this information was presented.

Still, the fact that Dark Angels now get a proper Land Speeder Typhoon with multi-melta for 75p indicates that the willingness to change printed point costs is still really really low. But I hope they do more of it, since it can go a long way towards balancing useless units.

Ok, I've always wanted to field a Terminator-army, but I've never done so. Could anyone whip up a quick 1750p Deathwing list for me as a basic start?
