You could make Stilton crackers. This recipe calls for 8 oz. but you could just half everything. http://leitesculinaria.com/78286/recipes-stilton-...

Hmm, I wonder what that was all about? I bet it was no fun for everyone left in the wake of the shrieking car alarms. Maybe it was some kind of diplomat Harley gang heading to the UN?

I live in Hell's Kitchen and a jet just buzzed by rather loudly. Before I could finish saying "WTF was that?!?" my husband was yelling from the other room that there was a Thunderbirds flyover on the Hudson happening today in conjunction with Air Force Week. He knew this handy fact because he's signed up for an email alert service through Notify NYC, which lets people know about events of a noisy/unusual/terrifying/enchanting nature happening near by. I just signed up and I think it's a great way to stay informed about all kinds of "wtf is that?!" events in the city. For example, a film crew was blowing things up in Brooklyn shooting Boardwalk Empire recently and neighbors naturally freaked out and called 911, but this is the kind of info that comes through on these email notifications. Thought I'd pass it along to NYC Crassers!

I remember browsing through Spencer Gifts in my local mall as a youth and coming across a gag gift called "man-t-hose". As I recall, they were a pair of typical beige pantyhose with a red fabric heart sewn over the crotch and some 1970's looking cartoon on the box showing a guy wearing them. As a child I thought this was the funniest thing EVER. I think it was in the same section as the edible underwear. I didn't blow my allowance on them, though, because there was Ms. Pac Man to be played down at the arcade.

I've gotten really into Total Immersion swimming (demo video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJpFVvho0o4 ). It's a technique that was developed for triathletes and other distance swimmers. Basically you create as little resistance as possible as you move your body through the water, which lessens fatigue and enables you to swim longer without exhausting yourself. Before I started I would have to rest every 50 meters, but now I can just keep going and going without feeling like I can't catch my breath. I learned from online videos and reading about it. I'd love to take a lesson to perfect my technique, but not too many places teach it.
