Daily Camera.com: : Will Branan: Lack of quality baseball fields in Boulder - Boulder Daily Camera

If you think baseball is bad, what about lacrosse, the fastest growing sport in the state and the country. Waht is the deal with the soccer fields off of Iris? The way they protect that grass you would think they played the Masters on it. Don't all of our tax dollars go towards that place? If so then more activities should have access to it.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder approves pot use for adults on private property - Boulder Daily Camera

I agree on the smell. I could care less who does or doesn't smoke pot, to each his/her own. We have someone across our alley who smokes pot like a freight train and our neighborhood is full of young families and it really is a horrible smell. HORRIBLE MOVE - couldn't agree more.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder group plans friendship visit to Palestine - Boulder Daily Camera

There is a lot of truth to what you said, but the PA is riddled with corruption. That is one of the reasons Hamas is seen as an alternative. If you strip out the aid-induced economy the PA doesn't have the sort of resources and programs to support these types of programs. This is a bit of a generalization but I find Gazans to be much more self-motivated than the people I work with in the West Bank. There is definitely an NGO hangover in the West Bank.

While most of what jagumare2 is spewing is based on a Zionist view of reality in Israel and Palestine he is right about one thing, 1948ers do have rights and programs from the Israeli government that they wouldn't otherwise have under a Palestinian state. That is why I said that many Palestinians would never admit it, probably talk down Israel, but if push came to shove they would prefer to be in Israel than Palestine. One of my colleagues is Palestinian receives a healthy disability payment every month and is provided a handicapped equipped van. That would not be possible in a Palestinian state.

Yeah, entrepreneurism. I can tell that you think every Arab has just crawled out from under a rock, but hate to inform you that yes in fact they are starting tech companies, can program in HTML 5, Python, CSS, and other exotic software languages. As crazy as it may sound there is even a Jew and Arab working together on a venture fund to invest in tech start ups. Have you ever been to Nablus? i have, and I can say it has the absolutely best Kunafa in the world.

You finally said something remotely accurate. Although they would probably never admit it, most 1948 Palestinians probably wouldn't trade their access and privileges for a Palestinian state. I'm curious how much time you have spent or spend in Israel because you must be missing all of the tagging and other acts of violence against Arabs living in Israel. To say that there are not racist policies in Israel is like saying racism does not still exist in the U.S; wishful thinking, but horribly naive.

It actually happens quite a bit. You should see how often settlers attack farmers trying to work in their fields or how settlers in Hebron drop human waste on Arabs and visitors to Hebron who are walking through the Old City of Hebron. Are there bad people who want to bad things in Gaza and the West Bank, absolutely, but you kick even the most docile dog in the gonads enough times and it is going to bite you.

There is definitely anti-semitism, but it is possible to not be a fan of the state of Israel and not be an anti-semite. I think the more common attitude in Palestine is anti-collaboration. I am involved with several joint Israeli-Palestine initiatives and there is a very fine line in how we go about doing that. One persons thoughtful cooperation is another person collaboration (in a bad way). I can say from personal experience that I entered this with a pro-Israeli perspective, and everyone I have ever met from the NGO world, diplomatic corps, etc., all leave Israel-Palestine with a much different view of the world.

One of the only non-closed minded posts. I actually work in Palestine and most of the comments are moronic. There are places on Colfax St in Denver that are exponentially more dangerous than in town in the West Bank. If I were going to pick a city in the West Bank it would probably be Ramallah or Hebron before Nablus just based upon the entrepreneurial characteristics of those towns. Palestine is one of the most inaccurately portrayed places in the world. If you went there you would come away with a much, much different impression, especially vis-a-vis Israel. There are bad people everywhere. If all you ever saw were stories about inner city gang violence in the U.S. one would probably think that the US was run by thugs and gangsters as well. While this does seem like a typical Boulder half-baked idea people need to get some actual perspective by spending time on the ground rather than form opinions based upon filtered media reports.

There is a difference between empathy and sympathy. One can feel empathy towards someone and the situation without condoning the behavior. I only met Greg once at a party, but do know the rest of the family, and while they probably brought most of this one themselves it is a very unfortunate situation for all involved and hopefully there is restitution for the the people he cheated.

The real question we as Americans ought to be asking is how did we get into the foreign policy box that we are in vis-a-vis most of the Arab world. I think when we are honest and address that then we can reclaim our moral high ground and hopefully facilitate real change and peace.

Actually the vast, vast majority of Muslims do not chant against America? I was just over there during the recent uprisings and you saw almost no anti-American sentiment in Cairo. Go spend a few days in the West Bank and you'll have a much different appreciation for some of the hostility towards America.

I am not a fan of organized religion in general and don't have a dog in this fight, but having spent a lot of time in the Middle East there is an important issue that always gets missed when discussing Islam. A lot of the practices and beliefs that many Americans have problems with are not faith based, but cultural norms that were in place long before Islam and the Prophet Mohammed.

I don't understand this obsession that the coach has to be a "CU guy." Obviously you need someone who understands, appreciates, and is willing to work within the constraints of the university and maybe the right guy is a guy with strong CU ties and maybe he isn't. The coach I played for had zero ties with my school and we had much greater constraints than CU and the program has been a winner ever since.
