I am very happy to see a windows user that was actually smart and find for an alternative solution. In stead others started to cry like brats. Congrats mate. Now you take the custom ipsw and use it on windows. Let us know how it worked. For me was ok.

well it seems that never. The whole idea is that bootloaders a hardware chips. Until today nobody managed to access the bootloader 5.09 chip and see how it can be hacked. I guess that this is not a priority for nobody now. For the moment there are bigger fishes to catch, in my opinion. For example the new version of iboot :D. Another chance would be to go to taiwan and find there a famous shop where they are unlocking the phones by hacking directly the hardware. But I guess that a trip like that from Romania is a little bit expensive. :))

nope, in your case there is no way to downgrade. All you can do is to jailbreak it. Also you can't unlock it. No one can for the moment. BB5.11 is not unlockable for the time being.

I really doubt that blackrain is bundled with any app. It just contain a small utility to download and install those applications from their original locations. So, I don't see the point in your action. Just get that app from cydia.

hmm, weird. Try with another sim. I assume that the phone is locked to a certain carrier. How much did you paid for it? Now, lets get one thing straight: jailbreak and unlock are two very distinct/separate things. It is true, you can't unlock unless you jailbreak the phone, BUT jailbreak acts at a certain level (operating system) and unlocking the phone acts at the baseband level. The baseband that you have now 5.11.07 is not unlockable at this time (either for a long time either never). However you can jailbreak the phone. I suggest you get the things clear with the store that sold your iphone with regards to the carrier lock status. If they told you that the phone is unlocked and the reality is different then you can ask them to change it. If you won't be able to resolve this then the only option is to sell it.

well, one thing is for sure: the phone has BB 5.11, so it can't be unlocked. If you paid $$$$$$ for it then it should be unlocked. Have you tried to put a european sim on it and connected it to itunes? In case you received the apple blessed message that your phone has been UNLOCKED then you are good. If not that means that the phone is locked to a certain carrier. If your phone is unlocked by apple then you don't need to worry about unlocking. Jailbreak is possible as long as you don't have the new version of iboot. I suggest that after you jailbreak it go into cydia and make your life easier by letting cydia get your ecid file. In this way you will be able to downgrade to 3.1 firmware and proceed with the jb. Good luck mate.

from what i've seen bb 4.26 and 3.1 firmware leads to this issue. There are some exceptions though, but I strongly doubt that it acutally true that they are correct.

I assume that you are not one of the chosen that have 3.0 ecid on cydia. Well, too bad. You will not be able to restore to 3.0 if you have a 3gs. search please on saurik's web site for the explanation. The only solution is to update with a custom firmware made with pwnage tool. If you are using windows you can use a virtual machine with macos. Good luck!
