Atheist Revolution : Why Are We Surprised the Pope Met With Kim Davis?

I too was surprised to read the Pope met in secret with a non-Catholic who was incarcerated for contempt of a lawful order by a Catholic Federal judge. I do not share Jack's view that it sounded about right for the Pope to meet her. I cannot speak to Jack's statement about so many atheist sites reporting on this issue because I only look at a couple sites. However, it does strike me as something reportable, particularly in view of the Liberty Counsel story that the meeting was in private. As far as I can tell, later news suggested a private meeting did not occur.

Atheist Revolution : What You Believe Is Sometimes Wrong

Forgive me for reiterating, but this get's to the issue I raised of helicopter parenting and every kid is a star. How DARE you challenge my child.

Atheist Revolution : What You Believe Is Sometimes Wrong

I lay blame on my generation of parents, and I include myself in this assessment, who espoused everyone is a winner, everyone gets a trophy, which leads to everyone's opinion is just as good if not better than anyone else's, everyone is from Lake Wobegon (above average - or way above average), and so on among a host of other things I could add. With that training ground it is no surprise that some young adults believe that whatever they believe is beyond discussion. I cannot vouch for this book in its totality, but I can say that many passages resonated with me: Generation Me by Jean Twenge, Ph.D. Your mileage may vary.

Atheist Revolution : Social Justice Warrior: A Brief Definition

While I don't think it will be a problem to shop for young kids or grandchildren, my reaction to this is like yours - it is ok to use gender labels for children, teens, adults. My question is: why did Target do this? Some sort of perceived political correctness? Did they do surveys and customers wanted this?

Atheist Revolution : Would You Rather Be Happy and Wrong or Unhappy and Right?

Along those tribal thought lines, I wonder how much happiness for many people comes from being in a group and the interactions with the group, not from a given belief system per se. (a sense of community)

Atheist Revolution : Toxic People

I follow just a few blogs b/c I'm on information overload as it is. I'm guessing you, Jack, read far more than I do by necessity to do what you do here, but that has limits too. As you say, no need to share names or shame, just ignore future posts. Easy.

Atheist Revolution : Confederate Flags and Free Expression

Quite clearly, no. They are free to make it and play the game on their own systems, give it away, broadcast it as they please. It continues to exist. The fact no one BUYS it is IRRELEVANT to freedom of expression. It does reduce their profits. Don't confuse freedom of expression with economics. Your statement that the lack of flag supplies and your purported commensurate lack of freedom of expression is, frankly, absurd. That's like asserting you have a constitutional right to buy confederate flags, even if no one makes them. I can't tell if you are being serious or not, so I have responded assuming the former. And it is not lost on me that I should not have replied given my prior post. LOL

"I have seen more than a few people claiming that a state government removing the flag from public property somehow infringes on their personal right to free expression or that a business deciding to stop selling Confederate flag merchandise does the same." For me, such stupidity hardly merits a response. So I'm a little surprised you wrote this post, Where have you read/seen these claims and by whom?
