Hooniverse : Last Call- Orange You Glad Edition

Hopefully, Jim remembers your caption. It was the clear winner. "Volkswagen knew that kisses should be horizontally opposed, air-cooled, and are best at slow speeds." (did I get that right?)

I don't care if that breaks the rules. I'm not liquid enough to drop $11k on a project, and no one is going to give a loan on an '88, but damn, I want that. He lost me a bit on "No visible rust ..." Really? The plastic hasn't rusted? The hell you say!

Even with a bad turbo, that undercuts asking prices on much rougher examples, while not being cheap enough to be an obvious scam.

I know it's just a Beetle in drag, but that Spyder is gorgeous. You don't often see them in a hue other than silver. That black looks incredible.

Hooniverse : Diecast Delights: The (old!) Ford GT in 1:18 Scale

Fun fact: The concept (and subsequently this model) has what appears to be two fuel fillers. One of them is the washer fluid reservoir cap made to look like the fuel filler for visual symmetry. It was changed on the production car over fears that owners would put gas in the washer reservoir.

Ford did that with all of their cars in 2010 (and might still. I haven't driven a Ford newer than 2010). I affectionately referred to it as the "auto streak". The washer would wipe until it was clear, and pause for a moment then do a dry pass just to streak the newly cleaned windshield. Every. Fucking. Time.

Atomic Toasters : Where's Wall-E?

Wall-E is pretty easy to find. I'm humbled by how many of these I don't know. Was the Tin Woodsman technically a robot? Some are easy, and everyone should know them. Some are obscure enough that I'm proud to know them. Others, I'm ashamed to know. R2D2, C3PO, "Johnny Five" from Short Circuit, Terminator, Bender, Calculon, The good Robot Bill and Ted, Twiki, Bicentennial Man, Eva, The horny robot from Robot Chicken, Tom Servo, Rosie from the Jetsons, One of the robots from iRobot, one of the sentries from The Matrix, Rodney from Robots, the sweeper robot from Wall-E, Dot Matrix, ED-209, Screech's robot Kevin. Including Wall-E and the Tin Woodsman, that's only 23. I'm sure many of you can do better. Edit: A quick Google search confimed my guess of the little guy from Batteries Not Included, bringing my total to 24.

Atomic Toasters : Shutdown: The Power of Shatner Edition

Welcome to the blogoverse, Atomic Toasters. I fear that this blog, in conjunction with Hooniverse will lead me to an ill-fated attempt to devise a vacuum tube controlled fuel injection system. I'm sure that it's possible, but it probably won't work well, and it would give a new meaning to needing to let your car warm up.

Hooniverse : Confession Time: Show Us Your Toys

I've got a few others, but these are the ones that I display (but they are displayed all over, so I consolidated for the purpose of this photo). I limit displayed models to vehicles that I've actually owned. There are several vehicles that I've owned that I haven't yet found models of (and the '98 Buick Skylark might be a lost cause) Counter clockwise from the bottom left: Triumph Spitfire AW11 MR2 AW11 MR2 with T-tops Nissan Maxima Jeep Cherokee Triumph Daytona Checker Marathon Jaguar XJ-S <img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4035/4390328121_c1ccf92de3_o.jpg">

Hooniverse : Craigslist Egregiousness: Check the Comps! Edition

The '61 is too nice to pilfer the bits, but if one were looking for an engine/trans donor, the drivetrain in it alone would justify $2800. Personally, I like the styling of the '61 better, too. To be fair to the seller of the '65, if you took the value of the engine/trans away from the '61 asking price to determine a price for the '65, the seller would have to pay you, but the '65 still has a positive value. Someone selling a better car for a better price doesn't immediately mean the the '65 is a bad price (though I do think it's a bit steep). It will just make it hard for the seller of the '65 to get his price until well after the '61 sells.
