Would make sense wouldn't it, to have their subsidies/revenue come from a source not affected by the economy? Just when people really need public transit, they cut the program. Those that don't actually need it, are driven right back to their own cars.....Sort of wipes out all the progress that's ever been made trying to condition the public to use mass transit......dumb.

One of them managed to take out 6 vehicles, including my subterannean garage in one fell swoop. Last one was last June when I was rear ended in front of my house by a gangbanger in a stolen one ton pickup at about 70mph which launched my dog through the windshield and flung my half ton pickup into my garage yet again. SPD said there's no point working the case citing the fact that I was insured. SPD has created a culture in the South end wherein EVERYONE who is in an at-fault wreck knows that they can skate on the whole deal if they leave the scene. I have never, ever seen a person under the age of 60 stay at the scene of a night time wreck in the South end if they were physically able to depart....and I've seen a lot of wrecks just on my block....
I ranted about blatant racism. The perps did happen to be black. I live in this neighborhood mentioned in the article (21 yrs now) where it is ethnically mixed about 30% each of black, white, asian/other. I have had crimes committed against me and witnessed crimes. None of them have been committed by white people. In the last 7 years I have had 13 vehicles and my entire garage destroyed by drunk drivers. All were non-white, all had no insurance, all were hit and run or attempted hit and run ( I personally caught all but one). That's not racism buddy. Those are hard facts. Now you tell me why those numbers are so out of wack with the representative population.
Thanks for that link... I couldn't find it. That's Federal Prison...I know nothing about it. WA DOC has no such program....Fed inmates apparently top out at a bit over a buck an hour. Here in WA, there were inmates at Monroe doing skilled fabrication that were making $13/hr back in 1987. Advantage to the employer was low rent ($1yr) , tax breaks and a work force that really couldn't be late for work or call in sick much.

Part of the reason we don't have the prisons produce much food here is because of corruption. Up at Monroe they used to have a huge beef herd up there...used to send a truckload a week from the farm to the pen....only about a third of it was unloaded, the rest made it's way to a local packing house and then to a chain of restaurants in the Snohomish County area....(Dennys style restaurants but w/ an Italian name).....

About a year ago, a black rapist, thief, drug dealing, gang-banging thug was shot and killed after leaping off a balcony to escape yet another crime scene. About 200 of his homeys had a memorial for him on the sidewalk. I watched as a little old White lady slowed down to pass in her car. The whole crowd started yelling racial slurs at her, "Whatcha looking at ya old Honky Bi+ch?" etc. When is the last time you've ever seen or even heard of any group of White people doing that anywhere on the West Coast?
