ProPrint site : \'Time to get on with life\', says Blue Star

To answer your question about 'censorship': We ask our users to self-regulate these forums. This is why comments go up and are then later removed: there has probably been a (valid) complaint. When comments are reported, we will consider removing them. The most typical reason why we decide to remove a comment is when an individual is attacked. I'm sure most people would agree it is reasonable for a person to be unhappy when they are publicly criticised or attacked by an anonymous individual. If you have a criticism to make, criticise the idea or the practice - not the individual. Or include your name with your comments, so readers can assess your interest and whether you know what you are talking about or whether it is just wild speculation. Sometimes we remove comments or stop putting them up because we decide there has already been enough mindless negativity on a topic. This happens quite a bit. It isn't against the rules to be on a downer but it can get a bit depressing! I'm sure all of you wonderful ProPrint readers like to see constructive debates taking place in the forums. The forums are here for people to use as they see fit (within reason) but I am always heartened when people find something upbeat to say. Steven Kiernan, editor, ProPrint

Hi all, I recognise this is a heated issue, but it is questionable whether some of the comments in this thread are really adding any value to the debate. I'm taking the opportunity to remind all the users to take a look at our Forum Rules - http://www.proprint.com.au/Page/Rules.aspx Please avoid personal attacks on individuals, whether industry people or other forum users. Make your point without calling people names or don’t make it at all. Breaking the rules will lead to a user's comments being deleted, and could also lead to the user being banned from using these forums. We rely on the help of all users of this platform to alert us to anything that may be abusive, offensive or otherwise inappropriate (you can use the ‘Report’ link beside each comment). Everyone should read the Forum Rules before posting. You will see it says: "The comments function is here to help build community and foster communication, not for mindless criticism, unfounded gossip or personal attacks." Please keep this in mind. If you have any other concerns, you can reach me on skiernan@proprint.com.au or (02) 8399 7694. Steven Kiernan, Editor

The following is posted on behalf of Susan Heaney, board president of the Printing Industries Association of Australia: I am writing in regard to the incorrect statements of JustaPrinter. Please be advised that Printing Industries is financially sound and not selling any assets. The term “Boys club” is insulting to myself as the female president and demeaning to the directors who volunteer their time and do not accept remuneration to represent the interests of our industry. Feel free to check the facts with our new CEO Bill Healey at any time. E: bill@printnet.com.au Mobile: 0419 627 693, attend any of our AGMs where all such information is readily available or speak to your local Board member.
ProPrint site : Colorpak to grow from $80m to $210m but profits down in H1 results

Hi artthesmart, Your idea of showing the number of voters is a good one and we'll definitely consider it. To give you a basic idea, last week's poll on extreme weather had a total of 81 votes (which is low for us). In comparison, our poll on a combined CPI/Focus/BJ Ball two weeks before attracted 153 votes, which is a decent result for one of our polls. There have so far been 50 votes for the poll we launched today about orders, and we would expect this number to increase significantly over the next week. Steven

Informed debate is a good thing. ProPrint provides these forums as a platform for members of the printing industry to offer their opinions on industry issues. Please be aware that while strong views are welcome, ProPrint will not accept or condone personal attacks or unsubstantiated criticisms. While there is certainly more mileage in this debate, it's my opinion that this specific conversation has run its course in this forum. For this reason, we're closing it down for future comments. If any user has a problem with any comments on the ProPrint website, please use the 'Report" button or contact me directly via skiernan@proprint.com.au or by calling (02) 8908 2208.
