KATU - Portland, OR : Sizemore pushes dues measure for third time | KATU.com - Portland, Oregon | News

the real irony here is that a nice chunk of the money paying for the propaganda to defeat this measure was taken out of money collected from union dues, and the people who contributed the money might prefer having the choice to say where their money goes, but the mere fact that they are union members means they officially oppose this measure even though no one asked them, because their money is being used to fight it.

I have always disagreed with unions contributing money collected from member dues to any political or charitable cause without giving the individual member the choice of how much or where their money goes. it's like negotiating a contract on behalf of your members to guarantee them a wage solely so you can skim it to finance your political agenda. every person should have the right to decide where their political and charitable contributions go. letting union officials decide for you should not be a requirement of union membership, therefore I support measure 64.
