One idea I have been giving some thought to, regarding getting rid of the party system, starts on a personal level.

I can do something and I can do it now.

I am going to go down to the county clerks office and change my party affiliation to UNAFFILIATED! If I want to vote in a primary than I will register for that primary. I will return to my unaffiliated status immediately following the primary.

I will always vote the person - not the party. I will not claim allegiance to ANY party!

If millions of voters were registered as unaffiliated, politicians would be seeking votes from voters they have no clear idea of what their platforms are. Might confuse them, force them to convince us why they are worthy.

Just my humble opinion.
