"We should be taking a lead from the Republicans in America."

Why exactly?

By who? Indeed, some of the posts on these threads do end up in wingnut territory, but that's what happens when you essentially have no argument beyond a moral one.

I appreciate this article was garbage to begin with, but do you at least have an intelligent thought to share on the topic?

Exactly. It may be dissolved, but until someone applies to do so, it remains a valid marriage.

You look like a wingnut when you try to explain away same-sex marriage through legal technicalities. I'm sure this goes down reasonably well in UKIP circles, but I thought even that party had moved on by now.

By all means object on moral grounds, but leave it at that.

There's no requirement for sex in any marriage. Just because a marriage a voidable for non-consummation, does not make it an invalid marriage until that occurs.

Thank you for posting such a sensible riposte to this rubbish. That said, it's true the law could take into account this type of situation where immediate family members reside together. It's been raised before.

What happens if I and my wife decide not to have kids? Do we not have a real marriage in your eyes?

I think people who disagree are seen as irrelevant on this issue, since we already have SSM. I certainly would not think of them as fringe nutters.
