I'm not aware that Chet pardoned anyone. He did commute two sentences without actually releasing anyone from custody. The commutes Chet issued simply allowed the parole board, should it feel such is worthwhile, to parole two inmates. If you can back up your statement on pardons, I'd like to see a link to a story about it.

By normal walking routes (on sidewalks and/or through the Ped Mall and not through alleyways), the photo of Lt. Brotherton is a block and a half away from either 217 Iowa Ave (Piano Lounge location) or 113 E College St (former Fieldhouse location). Really, if you don't have an appropriate stock photo and you don't want to take the time and trouble to go shoot a new photo, the article really doesn't need the extraneous distraction of an irrelevant photo or graphic.

No, they'll still build jobs in Mexico and China. And it's really not even about the wages the workers make; it's more about the hoops businesses in this country must jump through to meet OSHA and ANSI standards. I'm NOT saying such standards should be rescinded; I'm just pointing out that it's much easier to operate in much of the rest of the world than it is here in the USA.

While I agree with you about the convention center, the speed cameras are not having tax dollars blown on them. Whatever else you might say about the speed cameras, having tax dollars blown on them is not among their faults.

This really is the only issue with which I have been at odds with Johnson County Sheriff Lonny Pulkrabek. Now that the law has been changed to address this issue, I have no problems whatsoever with Sheriff Pulkrabek. I think he is a good man for the position and I am pleased that I no longer have this one difference of opinion with him.

$5.7 million is a very low price for the price of pretty much any manufacturing concern. I have to wonder what Winnebago gets for that money. That would not normally buy any good sized plot of land with a building in place suitable for an ongoing manufacturing concern, let alone the reputation of a company whose name you wish to continue to use in the making and selling of more product.
