The Scratching Shed : Queen's Park Rangers - Looking On With Envy

At the end of the day, Bates is probably waiting for Premier League status before selling the club. No doubt it would add a good 20% to the value, which is solid business sense. If that's his plan, then more power to him as long as he's willing to throw some money into the hat to push for that promotion.

So anyone who thanks our chairman for rescuing us (and he DID), is basically a blind follower? Nonsensical argument, typical for a person with an "anti everything" attitude. Bates has done some bad things with the club, but he has done some good things. Do the bad things outweigh the good? probably. Are the good things one of the reasons that despite a shaky start, we look just one or two signings away from being a threat for top 3 or 4? Yes, undoubtedly.

The Scratching Shed : Leeds cast-off signs for... erm... Leeds

I think he'll bag a few goals to be honest. The Cardiff spell had him coming off the bench half of the time due to being kept out by a then England International (Bothroyd). Cut him some slack. From what I have read about his Cardiff spell, he did really well, having a hand in quite a few goals and chipping in with a couple of his own. They wanted to keep him but Big Mick called him back to Wolves in order to loan him to Bristol to get regular football. At international level, he is backup to Keane and Doyle and has done well when called upon. I think he'll bag 6-7 goals between now and January, and have a hand in quite a few more. I see him, actually, as a good foil for Ross McCormack. Ross clearly needs a bigger lad upfront with him. Signing Keogh may produce the best results from Ross. When Becchio comes back, he'll need time to regain match fitness. Even when starting he'll probably only last 60 minutes or so for a while. Andy Keogh, at just over six foot, will be the man who comes on for him.

The Scratching Shed : Face-Off: Ken Bates v Peter Ridsdale

It's an unfair debate and vote, really. Ridsdale is not as fresh in the minds as Bates, for many LUFC fans. Nevertheless, Ridsdale wins this one hands down in my book. He almost put LUFC out of business. Bates may not be spending cash on players, but if that's the worst we can accuse him of then we're laughing. Ridsdale is pure, unadulterated scum.
