http://effortlessanthropologie.blogspot.com/ : Notes from Urban Outfitters\' Q2 Earnings Call

It's late now and I'm two martinis in but I just wanted to say that I love your quarterly earnings reports! I spent many years analyzing the retail sector and your breakdowns almost make me miss finance! Almost. I have to say that I attribute Anthro's / UO's success to strategic stocking. I love the sales but I check Anthropologie.com weekly for the new arrivals. In addition to being in her 30s with an annual income exceeding 100K, the current an Anthro shopper is slightly ADD in terms of fashion, is comfortable shopping online and is accustomed to instant gratification. UO will continue to increase their projected revenue as long as they keep us jonesing for new arrivals. To a point. If they raise prices and continue to charge for comparatively slow shipping, it's not going to work. I'd like to see a shipping model in line with Amazon and Zappos - free overnight (or two-day) shipping for "prime" members - even if that means paying a membership fee (though, ideally, they'd go the direction of Zappos' free VIP membership). Actually, maybe I wouldn't like to see that shipping model; I'd be broke. Their inventory / supply chain needs to be worked out. It's ridiculous that the stores continue to work relatively independently of their online inventory. WORK IT OUT, Anthro. Work it out.

http://effortlessanthropologie.blogspot.com/ : Reviews: Pittore Dress, New Reed Dress, Sprightly Steps Dress, Maeve Dress

I totally agree. I tried on the duck sweater for one of my fashion forward male coworkers. His reply: "if that sweater costs $15, keep it. It looks like you got it at Goodwill." These cutesy print sweaters are more in line with a younger Urban Outfitters aesthetic.

I couldn't resist that corduroy dress! I bought it last week when the temperature was in the 90s. It was SO. PERFECT. I'm 5'11" and it hit a couple inches above my knee but there's a good amount of hem to let out if you're so inclined.
