Latino Review, The Latin Perspective on all movies and pop culture : News: Why G.I. JOE Didn\'t Work For Me and I Don\'t Think It Will For You! | Latino Review

I'm kind of sick of people laying the success of these movies at the feet of the "American audience". NEWS FLASH! Transformers Revenge of the Fallen made $423,209,446 in foreign box office alone, so obviously Americans aren't the only ones lining up to see these films....just sayin.

Latino Review, The Latin Perspective on all movies and pop culture : News: Justin Timberlake\'s Rumored Green Lantern Audition | Latino Review

Relax people, although he's made some questionable choices when it comes to movie roles(Southland Tales, Edison) JT actually a decent actor his performances in "Alpha Dog" and "Black Snake Moan" where not bad. The only problem is that is celebrity would over power the role that he's playing which is probably why he wont get the gig.

/Film : 2012 Movie Trailer

Well of course it looks cool at this point Roland Emmerich should be an expert at finding cool ways to destroy the planet but considering he also wrote it I'm thinking there's about zero chance it could be good. But then again why am I(and others) so willing to give Michael Bay a pass for cool looking movies with no substance while jumping all over Roland Emmerich for giving us the same thing? I guess I'm just a hypocrite.

/Film : Gay-Friendly Bruno Reshoots Rumored

Isn't Bruno more making fun of other people's biases then praying on stereotypes. And the character of Bruno isn't that more over the top then the character Jack McFarland on that awful NBC show "Will & Grace"(which was embraced by the gay community). If Sacha Baron Cohen was actually a gay man playing an overly the top stereotypical gay person would this even be an issue, how would that make it any more or less offensive. Also if Angelina Jolie can put on tanning makeup and get nominated for a Golden Globe and Robert Downy Jr can put on black face and get nominated for an Academy Award how is "Bruno" over the line.

There's no use complaining about remakes you just have to come to terms with the fact that they will remake a lot of movies some of which you love. And the remake doesn't erase the original film no ones forcing you to watch it even if everybody you know runs out on opening day.

/Film : Christopher Nolan Has Still Not Signed For Batman 3

Normally I would agree with you but at the end of TDK Nolan clearly sets up the story for a squeal so you can't blame people for expecting one and you also can't blame them for wanting Nolan to shit or get off the pot. I don't think the 3rd films needs Nolan as a director to be good but if he's not gonna do it he should tell WB so they can start looking considering others.

The reason Wanted doesn't resemble the graphic novel is because Universal only bought the rights to the first issue in the comic series so not only did the screen writers they hired have no clue how Mark Millar's story ended, they weren't really sure what the next step was. I would love to see a faithful adaptation of the graphic novel but I guess it's hard to make a movie in which your main character rapes someone and it's presented as a good thing. lol

/Film : Early Buzz: The First Real Reviews for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

No reviews needed by now people know what they're getting themselves into, it's Michael Bay + giant fighting robots which means you will be marveling at the great action set pieces and openly laughing at the bad dialog, ether you're into that kind of thing or not. I know some people will argue how lowering your expectations for Michael Bay films is somehow wrong but if you walk into a movie and a logo for a toy company shows up on screen during the opening credits how can you take it as seriously as something like "Michael Clayton".

Raiders of The Lost Arc is an original story and Star Wars had excellent source material. The source material for Transformers is a cartoon that only existed to pimp toys. There was never any artistic integrity to begin with so why would you expect it now? There's a god damn "Hasbro" logo that pops on the screen before the movie even starts. Just because people are down for going to see some mindless entertainment doesn't mean they don't care about good stories it just means they don't give a fuck is Transformers has a good story. If people didn't care about good stories in general then Terminator Salvation would have made a lot more money.

Your question is a matter of opinion but if you're talking pure action set pieces not story or character then you could make an excellent argument that Michael Bay is the very best right now. You can point out all types of flaws in every movie he's directed buy I don't think I've ever heard anyone say Bay directed a poorly done action scene.

“Pirates also think everything on the Internet should be free,” well that's not true sometimes pirates think "If downloading this movie legally was made cheaper, easier and done in a format in which I could quickly movie it between devices I wouldn't be doing this" but god forbid Forman worked with the studio's to solve that problem it's probably best to point fingers and name call, that will solve the problem for sure!

"He exhausted De Niro to the breaking point".......What? I'm really not understanding your logic sure Scorsese used De Niro a lot but they never made a bad movie together, how is that your argument against Scorsese using Leonardo DiCaprio? As for DiCaprio's acting ability it's just silly to suggest that he's not great. Starting with The Basketball Diaries in 1995 he's put together more quality performances then 90% of the big name actors in Hollywood.

/Film : Is Harvey Weinstein Asking Tarantino To Cut 40 Minutes From Inglourious Basterds?

I really try to defend the Weinstein's after a lot of great movies would not exist without them, tons of directors and actors owe them their carriers and by listening to the Kevin Smith smodcast where he talks about "The Reader" I have a feeling the Weinstein's have a love/hate relationship with most of people they work with. But those guys sure to make it hard to be on there side sometimes, I mean cut 40 minutes? That's not exactly a small request espeshally for someone like Tarantino and isn't the whole point of working with the Weinstein's is they give you money to make the a film no one else would dare to fund, at least that's the way it use to be. If Tarantino has to deal with these issues he might as well go work directly under a big studio. I hope during the meeting in which they first brought this up with Tarantino he gave it the blank stare it deserved. RUN QUENTIN......RUN! KEVIN SMITH GOT AWAY YOU CAN TOO!!!

Wow, the first week where I completely agree with the DVD picks. "Gran Torino" is a film that just barely works I would say I liked about 51% of it, "The International" is beautifully shot but a boar fest aside from the shoot out scene(can someone explain why that guy decided to take off his built proof vest before the gun fight started), and "Crossing Over" what has the world come to when Ray Liota and Harrison Ford cant save a movie.

Just got back from seeing "Land of the Lost" and I have to say I tend to lean more toward Mr. Stephenson's review then Peter Traver's. I wouldn't quite rate is as high as a 8.0 out of 10 for me it was more like a 6.5 or 7. It has several different funny moments but overall I thought there were major issues with the story structure and pacing. They were so eager to throw these characters into this funny situation that they did a real poor job at setting the table so I never cared when something major happened to them. With that said I did like the movie overall and I think the slamming this film as received from most critics has more to do with Will Ferrell fatigue then the faults of the actual movie.
