Shopaholic from Become UK : 5 Baby Essentials when at a Wedding

Hi Tanniah, Thanks for your comment. The system can be used for up to 3 years. But you have to make sure your baby is not too tall. My cute nephew for example is very tall for his age so we have to get him clothes that fits for 24 months but he is only 14 months old. So it depends on the baby and you know best if your child would fit in there. Check out the measurements and make sure your baby will fit. Let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks, The Shopaholic Team

Carol, I am really sorry that our team is getting back to you after so long. In return we have done quite some research and we hope you are pleased with what we found. It is a tough question to ask if Nikon or Canon have a better camera. Generally, we would say that both companies have been in the business for a long time and therefore produce high-quality cameras you can rely on. When it comes to choosing the right camera it all comes down to what features you would prefer. As you like a camera that is small and fits in your bag we only looked at the point-and-shoot cameras. A very successful one is the Canon IXUS 95 IS. It is small, stylish and uses Scene Detection Technology to automatically find the best settings for where you are when taking a picture. Another great camera is the Nikon Coolpix S4000. It is very handy, comes in a lot of different colours and has an amazing touchscreen. So now it is up to you what camera you want to get! The Shopaholic Team

Hi Juliette, congrats, when is the baby due? If the baby is due after the summer, clothing is much easier because you can play with nice dresses and skirts. If the baby decides to only come in winter, this is the period we need to look out for. Let's see, so for summer you don't have to worry, I wouldn't buy anything, rather play with what you have at home. You can wear dresses and tops and even cut of long skirts and pull them up so that it looks like a boob tube. When going into winter I suggest to get one or two maternity trousers and a warm jacket. Rachel has some amazing tips on maternity clothes on our blog. There is quite a bit of stylish clothing out there. Just take an afternoon off and really browse the relevant high street shops and don't forget the online shops. You don't need a lot, just key pieces. Also keep your eyes and ears open for second hand maternity clothing sales and what about asking friends and families? That way you get what you need and find little luxury items. Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy. The Shopaholic Team

Hi Andrew, Thanks for your great question. The new GPSs have lots of features such as FM lifetime traffic, photo navigation, ecoRoute™, and pedestrian navigation options. I recommend Garmin Nuvi 1340T that offers many powerful features. First of all the 5 inches widescreen is a big advantage it makes it easy to see the maps behind the wheel. It features photo navigation, speed limit indicator, world travel clock, calculator and converter. What I think is a great extra is the lane assistance feature. It helps the drivers prepare to make an upcoming exit or turn by providing clear visual lane guidance. And we both know that this is one of the major arguments. Is it this exit? One says yes the other says no. The GPS weighs only 221 grams so you can carry it around if you need directions while walking, it is now so simple to get to places on time. I hope I could help you. Let me know if it works for you. The Shopaholic Team

Hi Henry, Thanks for your question. What you can wear as best man really depends on the type of wedding you are attending. Is it a traditional wedding, a modern wedding or maybe a Scottish wedding? Ask your mate and his bride-to-be what plans they have and what they want their best men and bridesmaids to wear. Assuming that they plan on having a traditional wedding, a suit is always a good choice. Some people say the groom and the best man should wear matching suits. If this is not required, you can choose what you like. What about a classic black tail or an Edwardian suit? It’s up to you what colour you choose but we suggest going for darker colours. It looks more elegant. Just remember that you will spend the whole day in your suit. So make sure that it fits perfectly and is comfortable. Besides that, suitable shoes are also important. You should buy them in advance to ensure that you have enough time to break them in. Buy your shoes after your suit, so that the shoe colour matches exactly. Choose a pair of shoes that you really like because you might want to wear them after the wedding as well. I hope you have a better idea of what to wear now. Enjoy the wedding! The Shopaholic Team

Dear Julia, If you are looking for clothing that is produced anywhere but Asia, there is unfortunately very little. Nonetheless, there are ways to avoid buying clothes from sweat shops in developing countries. It is well worth supporting the green movement in the apparel industry. Buy clothing that is manufactured in socially responsible factories or is marked as ‘fair-trade’, which means that the factory has implemented fair labour conditions for workers and for the supplier. Clothing made of organic cotton or hemp are good alternatives and this is usually produced in an eco-friendly way. At Become.co.uk you can find a selection of clothing made of organic materials and most cities have small boutiques that specialize in selling organic and fair-trade clothing. Another option is to wear vintage clothes. In second-hand shops you can find a huge selection of clothing which was produced before the clothing production industry shifted to Asia. In addition, buying second hand clothing doesn’t support cheap, unfair clothing production in developing countries because all the profits go directly to the secondhand store and not to companies that support sweat shops. And lastly, you can find great deals on high quality clothing in second-hand shops. Let us know if there is anything else we can help you with! Sincerely yours, The Shopaholic Team

Hi Gina, Thanks for your great question. Shaggy rugs look beautiful in any room. There are very cozy and can be an eye catcher in the right colour. But you are right, they need to be cleaned to keep looking nicely. Vacuum your shag regularly twice a week. For a deeper cleaning sweep the rug with a bristle broom, it gets down into the pile and pushes the dirt out. You can also try to shake them outdoors and use a paddle to knock the dirt out of them. Now there could be a bigger problem with stains. How do you get them out of the rug? I suggest to first scoop up as much of the spill as possible. Then absorb as much of the liquid with a paper towel or a cloth by blotting. And in the last step you should try to apply some warm water and blot well to extract the residue. You have to repeat this step until there is no detergent on the rug. After that you have to wait until the rug is completely dry and vacuum the area. I hope this helps you a little bit. If you are not sure what kind of rug to get check out one of our blog posts about shaggy rugs, I am sure you will find some helpful information.
Hello Bronwyn, especially in the bathroom you can do a lot to safe water. It starts with preventing the taps from dropping and ends with a toilet run by rain water. I would recommend you to start with a new shower head which can save up to 75% of water. You can compare different shower heads on our blog post Top 5 Water Saving Shower Heads. Another great option is getting water saving sink taps and a thermostatic shower valve instead of two taps. It is faster to regulate water temperature in the shower with a thermostatic shower valve. You can save a lot of money just by turning off water while foaming yourself. One more option to consider is an eco-friendly toilet. A water saving toilet uses up to 35% less water than an average toilet. These types of toilets have two buttons to control the amount of water flushing. If you can implement some of it, it is good for the environment and great for your wallet!

Hi Melanie, Generally, I would spend more money on food than the decoration. However, that doesn't mean you can't decorate. In other words, let's keep it simple. Serviettes are very effective tools to add colour to your dining table. Since it is a romantic dinner you could buy red serviettes and arrange them nicely in your red wine glasses, or you can cut the serviettes in a heart shape and arrange the thin layers on the table. On your way home, break some leaves of a bush or tree (don't do that too frequently) and arrange them in the middle of the table or on each place. If you want to spend more money you can also place a red rose on your loved once plate. This way you are mixing red and green, which is a very powerful colour combination. Otherwise you can do a lot with lighting, smells and music. The smell will be taken care of, since you will cock a great meal. For the lighting I suggest candle light the ultimate romantic accessory and your favourite music. Voila, hope you have a great evening.

Hi John, Thanks for your question. It’s always good to hear when someone wants to get involved in sports. Let’s see if we can help you. In general, ball games or team games emphasize fitness and athleticism. Endurance matters the most. As you often have to withstand a match that lasts around 15 to 30 minutes (football is a tiring 45 minutes), you’ll need to train and get fit to prepare for that type of physical exertion. A workout bench or dumbbells won’t help you much in the area of endurance. The best way to do cardio conditioning is walking, running or biking. Playing tennis or squash also helps to train your coordination and balance. If you want to get into the right team spirit, we suggest grabbing your best friends or colleagues and having a basketball or football tournament in a nearby park. That way, you can get some exercise before joining your preferred team. If you have further questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Have fun! Your Shopaholic Team

Hi, Thanks for this great question. First of all I love the dress too. It is so cute. It took me a while to find it. I couldn't find the exact designer but I found a one shoulder silk dress by Isabel Marant Etoil that looks similar. It is a bit expensive though. There are great alternatives. Topshop has an "one should cover up" in different colours. Or check out an Emily & Fin Sadie dress. I hope I could help you, I know how it is when you really want to find this dress or the sweater you saw on somebody, that can drive me crazy. Have fun shopping for it. It is a beautiful dress.
