I think the best biography I've ever read is Judith Thurman's bio of Colette, who certainly qualifies to your desired specifications. Ran away from her controlling first husband to become a touring actress/ vagabond, had delicious affairs with both men and women, including her stepson, and one of the greatest French writers of the 20th century.

I told myself that I wouldn't get one, because I really, really don't need another tote, but I couldn't resist anymore. Spear Lady shall be mine.

Are we all going to say hi when we see each other with a tote out in the wild? Or maybe wink? Or just smile warmly, like I do at women reading Elena Ferrante in the subway? The small possibility of recognition is one of the reasons I had to go through with it.

Do you know about the Hairpin? It's basically the precursor to the Toast, where Nicole and Mallory got their start. It's been kind of dormant for awhile but it just started up again, and I really hope it absorbs a lot of the kinds of articles that are here. If I recall correctly they've had a few very good articles about miscarriages, I would encourage you to submit there.

I actually have relatively low blood pressure too, but it's been fine. I think spiro works for me because my acne was truly hormonal, but it sounds like yours might be too (especially if it's around the chin area). good luck!

For me, spiro is a miracle. my terrible hormonal cystic acne is completely gone, and I haven't really experienced any side effects, although I try to keep extra hydrated now. Running is pretty much antithetical to my nature so I can't speak to that issue, though.

Agree. I made so many people watch the Source Family documentary, it's so amazing.

also, if anyone wants to look at the Hairpin in normal blog view and not the stupid Medium way, you can look at: https://thehairpin.com/latest

I think Mallory pretty much got her start as the queen of Hairpin commenters, and then eventually Nicole became one of the editors.

I think we should all migrate en masse back to the the Hairpin come July 1st!

edit: er, except for the awful commenting system. damn!
