I think it's also a problem in Mexico City since it was built on a lakebed and it's all soft sand and rocks that offer nothing in the form of resistance to those waves! woooooo

Having been to the earthquake museum in Christchurch (and just Christchurch in 2007 vs 2014) I'm really surprised it wasn't referenced in the article, even though tsunamis weren't really an issue there. Just horrifically unprepared structures and GROUND LIQUEFICATION which is up there as far as least favorite word pairings.__But god I love plate tectonics when they're not going to kill us all.

Was that the one where both husband and wife were like 6 ft tall because she played volleyball in college? Those people were great.

My favorite is the Swedish TV Producer ladyfriends who open a surf camp in France. They were a delight and I will sometimes call my roommate into watch it if I catch the 75th airing of it.

Least favorite is usually someone from Texas (sorry, Texans) being surprised that you can't have a 6000 sq ft ranch house in the middle of Budapest or where ever.

Sharleen! I can't blame her for only wanting to engage in nonverbal pursuits with Juan Pablo.

Most of my Bachelor enjoyment comes from writhing in pain over the insane things happening with my roommate and then listening to The Right Reasons podcast from Grantland. Juliet and Jacoby are on my level.

Bachelor in Paradise. Except I barely pretend, I mostly just try to drag more people down with me.

some folks were saying yesterday that Hulu doesn't have the first few episodes, but I'd check out the CW's website.

Well I watched the first two episodes of Jane the Virgin last night and it is CHARMING AS HELL. I love her abuela! and Xiomara! and the perfect soap opera/telenovela plot twists and relationship complications. Jane's love interest(s) need to step it up though.

there is an ad for Uggs at the bottom of my screen and I just thought sadly "can I get a full body Ugg?" why are the non-feet parts of my body being discriminated against? Why am I out of bed? everything is awful.

I have so many thoughts about the show - 80% of them are just :D! - but the other 20% is stuff that I think the creators actually intended, which is great because it does seem like the parallels and themes and other issues are ones they wanted to address. The execution thereof is a thing people will debate I'm sure, but I'm just so happy. Supernatural is still on the air, Ant-man exists when a Black Widow movie doesn't, and this is just fucking delightful.

It reminds me of Alias in a lot of ways, and I loved the first few seasons of that show, so I am ALL ABOUT Comic Book-y Alias in the 1940s. The casting is wonderful, I hope Angie gets to join in on the spy fun, because Alex from Nikita shouldn't be wasted like that. And the Howling Commandos in the previews!

My favorite part of the CAAH stuff was showing how they did the sound effects! So neat! Such fun!
