MadCow-Sounds like a very dangerous situation. I do not advocate violence and I doubt you do either. I do believe strongly in being able to defend yourself and others. It seems the best solution is to try to avoid a situation all together but that is not always an option. Thumbs up for your posts.

FullMTLjacket45-good post that should be read by all road ragers. not just this guy. There are people out there who will protect their families and themselves. People who do not simply wave weapons around to scare people. If some people are blocked in by traffic and they have some road rager get out of their car and approach screaming and acting as a threat, the road rager may get more than they bargained for. If I remember right there was an elderly couple who had a guy do the same thing to them twice. It's very dangerous for everyone. Stay in your car and chill out before something goes wrong.

KATU - Portland, OR : Sheriff\'s deputy cleared of all charges | Local & Regional | KATU.com - Portland News, Sports, Traf

According to the article he was arrested in May for assault and criminal mistreatment after the OSP investigation. Now he has been cleared but there is no information. It is possible once he was cleared, he and his attorney requested the records be sealed. (something any citizen can do in these circumstances) If that is the case, the court order would prevent the case from being released. Yamhill County (his employer) would have no more information than any other employer for any other citizen. The case was OSP's investigation. So either all of the News agencies got together and decided not to give us the details, or there is a legal reason they don't have access. Sorry it is not as entertaining as a cover up.

anotherlefty-I totally agree. This guy is a perfect example. Even in Portland I do not think his career will survive. I do not wish this on anyone. Unfortunately it took this to bring his alcohol problem to light. He should consider himself lucky nobody was injured. It doesn't really matter now how well he did or did not do his job. The expectation to not drive drunk is simple considering the profession.

Having a law which enforcement depends on politics is not the answer. Either enforce it or change it. Having political enforcement only invites corruption.

ryansmith202-I just wanted to add according to the article he was in the house alone and gave up. There is a very big difference between a man alone in a house who gives up and a man who had others in the house as well at an apartment with other occupants. In that case, the man did not give up as he was told and moved toward the apartment and other officers if I remember right. His actions created a terrible incicent. Just to confirm, rs202, I agree with you. As to the paid leave. I know there is that whole innocent until proven guilty thing but I have no idea how that works in Oregon. My understanding is they have to follow employment law.

This mission is as accomplished as it can be. Time to bring our veterans home. Our military has been stretched too thin for too long. It is very sad this man took his own life after all he did. It is also wrong to blame his Ranger buddies who are going through the same thing and preparing for another deployment. Now, the Rangers he served with and the ones he led as a Staff Sergeant will have to face this deployment without his experience and with the accusation they were responsible for his death. Service in a Ranger Bat is voluntary. His chain of command and the mental health evaluator should be looked at to see if anything could have been done to prevent it. The bottom line is it's time to end the mission.

I think this is just a small window of the manipulation his victims must have suffered for years before he murdered them. He is trying to control his life with the organ donation and now a wedding? I may be wrong but I think he should have absolutely no say in anything involving his life.

Sorry but the projects in Seattle are Yesler Terrace and everything East until the view of Lake Washington Begins. To the south lets not forget Holley Park/Rainier Beach/ The Kenyon Apts etc. West Seattle has a nice little pocket as well. The First Hill neighborhood is much safer in comparison.

KATU - Portland, OR : School teacher gets 8-month sentence, will still be allowed to teach | Crime | Gresham News

Lets face it, our children grow up in a society which in a very large part seems to revolve around alcohol. Alcohol and tobacco may be some of the first difficult decisions our children will have to make on their own. If this guy serves his time, does what is required by the courts, and learns from his mistake, maybe he can help get the message through that alcohol does not go with driving. I know there are those who will not agree, nor should they if that is how they feel. I am very impressed the victim appears to have taken the big step of forgiveness. He has my respect.

back4more-I agree with you. The laws regarding using force are not secrets. They can be researched and are pretty easy to find. Every state has their own but they all fall along the same path of protecting yourself or someone else from harm. A strong neighborhood watch is important. The criminals manipulate the laws to get away from their crimes. The same laws can be followed to protect yourself while you are protecting you or your neighbors property. Just think people and safety, not property when it comes to using force appropriately. Double check with your own internet research. Lets put the blame back where it belongs, on the criminals. Not the economy, courts, cops, judges, etc....its the CRIMINAL to blame.
