Yes, I’m aware of that. The jokes I'm referring to are made by people assuming that because of a person’s race, they must be Muslim and therefore related to bin Laden (see bartle_doo’s comment about all the seven-eleven workers and cab drivers). Had I said, "Am I related to every XYZ religious person in the world just because I share their religion?" it still wouldn't change my point. Either way it’s ignorant and wrong. People are people and bigoted “humor” just isn’t funny.

I'm sure they are equally happy that bin Laden is dead. Joking about their connection to him just because of their race is not funny. All it does is prevent people in our country from feeling united at a time when that's exactly how we should be feeling.
