I would also like to add that there were many black confederate soldiers. You will not hear about them in public schools, but they fought none the less. Not all slaves were treated poorly, many were well cared for. Not every person who owned a slave was an evil person who beat and raped their slaves. I realize it's not popular to teach that today, but you are correct about rewriting history to serve a purpose.

How about instead of Glenn, we put some politicians (Barney Frank, Chris Dodd.....) in front of the tennis ball machine. And how about instead of giving them a tennis racquet....we don't. Sorry that visual of Barney Frank made me laugh. Not very nice, but worth the chuckle. Thanks for idea!

Perhaps Glenn is "aggressive and insulting" about this issue because he's covered it longer and may have more information than you do. I don't really know, but I do think it's a shame that you disagree with him on this one issue and decide you won't watch him anymore. Seems a bit extreme. You can't agree with anyone 100% of the time.

Jean_Chauvin: God gave all of us minds with which to think, analyze, reason and rationalize. We all do that in different ways; we all have different gifts that enable us to communicate with others on different levels. Your views are certainly important to this site. They may not resonate with some, but they will with others. I've replied to a couple of your previous posts and apologize if my comments were offensive or hurtful; they certainly were not intended to be anything but helpful with an attempt at lightening the mood. So let's all take a deep breath and move on. There are far more important issues to be discussed.

Since when is being addressed as "Maam" or "Sir" some sign of disrespect? I suppose when you don't have much else going for you, you have to rely on your "title" to prove you're somebody.

"Common Sense" is just plain ole "walking around sense." Some people have it and alas some do not. It is stating what, for the average person, should be the obvious. For instance not using the blow dryer while in the shower....that's just common sense. For the average person you would think that would be obvious. Unfortunately, there are those who walk among us that well.....these are the people "warning" labels are made for. I know that's an "example" and not an "argument," however, examples are useful in illustrating a point of view. If you are a fan of Glenn Beck, then you will know that he loves to use examples to illustrate the point he is trying to make. Hence the charts, the fish, the juggler, etc. A book of his will be no different. Personally, I like examples, they sometimes help me see things in a different light. I admit I have not yet read Mr. Beck's book, but given your comments, you may be over-thinking this just a bit. I will say this, "If you are reading a book and it's causing your blood pressure to rise and you to throw the book across the room, you may want stop reading it." But that just common sense.

To That Guy: Wow, that was a stretch. I didn't even remotely say that. YOU put Dr. Tiller under the heading of "innocent," I just clarified that the babies were the only "innocent" ones. I made it very clear that I did NOT condone his being shot. Don't put words in my mouth.

That would be an emphatic NO! Everyone is ultimately responsible for their OWN actions. Some people are completely lacking in impulse control. As for prominent members of a political party using thinly veiled threats against the Democratically elected President.....are you referring to President Bush? Because I don't believe the democrats or the mainstream media even bothered with what you politely refer to as "thinly veiled threats" when referring to him. On the contrary, they were raving lunatics. As for you trying to say that all of those killings were by right wing extremists. On what authority do you even make a blanket statement like that? Did you actually interview these people and find out what their political views were? Or, are you just parrotting what you've heard in the mainstream media? When people are filled with hate, it twists them and takes away their ability to reason and rationalize. But for the grace of God, hate has the ability to do that with any and all of us. Finally, I take exception to your calling Dr. Tiller an "innocent." While I in no way, shape or form agree with or condone him being shot; make no mistake....the only "innocents" in that whole scenario were the babies he killed.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 6/1 Abortion Doctor Shot And Killed In Church

My husband asked me what I thought about the doctor getting shot. Honestly, I told him that I felt for his family and felt sympathy for those individuals who witnessed the shooting. I certainly didn't condone the action, but I also didn't feel sorry for the doctor. He made a conscious and repeated choice to perform abortions. For years his life was threatened and yet time and time again, he made the choice. Those choices in the end cost him his life. The gunman also made a choice and he will pay the price as well.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 6/1 Abortion Doctor Shot And Killed In Church

It's been many years since I saw the actual percentages given for abortion and while I do not remember the exact figures and can't be specific, you are correct in your assumption. The figures I saw years ago were put out by Planned Parenthood (surprisingly) and of all abortions performed I believe it was a figure less than 10% of abortions performed were for rape. Interestingly enough less than 1% of the abortions was due to incest (that figure did stick out in my mind). I say surprisingly and interestingly because these are very low percentages and yet when Planned Parenthood promotes abortions they seem to imply that most abortions are performed due to rape and incest. I thought it odd at the time that their own stats didn't ring true with their message. Sorry I don't have the latest figures (I'm sure someone out there does), but I would say the reasons for abortions haven't differed over the years, there have just been more of them. I agree with you that abortion is more often than not used as a form of birth control. Again, many years ago, I knew of a woman (through a friend) that had two children, but had had several abortions. She was pregnant again and was scheduling another abortion. When my friend asked why she didn't get birth control pills, she indicated that they were too much bother. Apparently, it was easier to just get an abortion. I get sick again, just thinking about it. How does one argue with that mind-set?

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 5/28/09 Speaking of Money, We Are Not Collecting Much From Taxes

You don't have to be a particularly bright person to figure out that you don't pay taxes on money that isn't coming in. Sooooo, if you don't have a job and, therefor, no income, you're probably going to pay less in taxes. If you have a small business and your income is down (because the jobless people are no longer spending the money they don't make, with you), then it stands to reason that those same small businesses will be paying less in taxes. You just need to have, what my family refers to as, "walking around" sense (i.e. common sense) to figure this out. As I sit here amazed, yet again, by our politicians, I believe that I have come up with the solution. If you are an attorney, doctor, contractor or license holder of any kind, then you are probably familiar with the dreaded "Continuing Education." I propose that all politicians first be tested for good ole walking around sense. A sample question might be: Sam was walking down the sidewalk and it started to rain. What should Sam do? a) Get in out of the rain; b) Figure out a way to tax the little people for rainy days; c) Get in out of the rain; d) a and c above Of course all present politicians would need to be tested immediately. If they fail the test they would be removed from office and forced to walk up and down the Mall with a sign that says, "I am too stupid to come in from the rain and do not deserve to remain in office," or "I am dumb as a stump, and apologize to the American people for wasting their time and money. Please kick me." (The sign part is just a suggestion, I'm flexible.) If the politician passes the test they would remain in office, but they would be forced to attend continuing education courses covering topics such as: Basic economics; the Constitution; the founding fathers or history in general (so as not to repeat it); budgeting; ethics; etc. Someone running for office would have to take the "entrance" exam (for lack of a better term). If they fail....well, we wouldn't have to waste our time. If they pass, and are elected into office, again, the continuing education program would apply and perhaps, just perhaps, act as a regularly scheduled reality check. Kudos to the website. When I first logged on I was so frustrated. Frustrated by what seems to be a daily attack on this country by our own politicians; frustrated by the constant attack on our values and frustrated by the sheer hypocrisy coming from every direction. But.....by the time I finished outlining the above, I actually had to chuckle. Laughter IS the best medicine!

Truthisrising, I am confused. Exactly what are you trying to warn Glenn Beck viewers about? I think he's been pretty clear on the point that people don't need to just take his word for anything and that, in fact, they need to start educating themselves. He is but one source for that information. As for his not always being accurate. Who is 100 percent right all the time? I mean, other than you that is? I have listened to him for years, as well as Rush Limbaugh. These men have been more than consistent on their message, as well as spot on on the majority of their predictions. You, on the other hand, seem to have some issues, to put it politely. This is not the first comment of yours I've read and I've noticed that you contradict yourself at times. For example, you ramble on about not trusting the mainstream news (and I'm right there with you on that one), but then parrot messages that I've heard from the mainstream media for years. (i.e., America is a bully; nobody wants to be like America). If America is that bad then why are people coming in droves by legal and illegal means? I find it interesting that you are using the 912project to voice a "warning" about the very man who started the website.

I agree with the majority of what you (shadedsoul) say; however, I would argue that the conditioning of the American people to accept more government without question has been building for a lot longer than 8 years. This goes back to FDR and possibly earlier.

As to your weapons of mass destruction comment, let me just say, "not finding" and "not existing" are two completely different things. The mainstream media did an excellent job of beating that dead horse over and over (frankly until I developed a nervous tic every time I heard it). As if the result of not finding WMD's means that they never existed in the first place. I've lost enough items around my home to know that one does not necessarily equal the other. Case in point, I used to have two sets of car keys, but for the life of me I haven't been able to find one of the sets for over two years now. Does that mean they never existed? No, it simply means I haven't come across them yet. I apologize for going on and on about the WMD issue, but honestly, I really grew tired of the media beating everyone over the head with that.
