It's actually early days yet in this economic crisis. I agree with the Pres-elect that speedy infrastrucure programs are essential to job creation. Long term, we should ease out of the consumer based economy..it's been economic and environmental disaster. (William McDonough has many good ideas on beginning that change) The crisis is rippling my way...small business owner bossman struggling to make payroll; child in college struggling with tuition; being a half paycheck away from personal disaster and so on. It's everybody's story really. But everything happening with the Pres, this website, the intelligent, pragmatic cabinet to come, soothes my alarm. Yes, we have miles and miles to go, much callous indifference and malicious actions to correct, but finally...at last we can begin to solve these problems.

I agree with Pollan that we can't address the health care problem without also addressing food security issues and big agribusiness. My health care insurance is this: I must stay healthy because I can't afford to get sick, injured or depressed about it. I am VERY grateful that Pres Obama is tough enough to start solving this problem and hope that everyone will stay patient when the special interests start wailing. Hey Senator Daschle! Can you get the Big Pharma companies to stop advertising their products? That might reduce drug costs a bit.
