I find it sad that you have been reduced to hate filled trolling on the daily camera comment section Kerry. I know that Ms. White is a strong woman, trying very hard and succeeding in balancing many difficult situations. You should be assured that you Mr. Bensman, following the above post are the most detested poster on this forum.

Lafayette has a lack of vision? Stevie Wonder has more vision than those currently in charge of planning our city. It's time for real leadership in our community. We have a bright future before us, many of us young progressives have no issues with the "Church of Walmart" and view their contribution to the community as positive. Archaic attitudes from the City Planner, Administrator and the majority of the city council are fragmenting our community.
STOP catering to businesses that funnel money out of our community and start supporting business that adds to our community.

6 years is an insult to society, the person he killed, their family and justice in general. How long would he have gotten for growing a plant? The man in highlands ranch got a longer sentence.

It was probably the 7 o' clock PM issue rather than the morning issue Kerry. I find it hilarious that of all the things that you could have commented on, perhaps even using your vast experience to help us feeble newbies understand home rule and behind the scenes politics; but no just some ignorant jab that illustrates to everyone that you have way too much free time on your hands.

You are exactly right!
This seems like a concession to law enforcement to me, Patterson and Kaplache are serving this up for the Lafayette police chief. The city planner, the city admin, the chief of police and at least 3 council memebers are against medical marijuana and are trying to use a veil of regulation to infringe on people's constitutional right to cultivate cannabis in the privacy of their own home.
There has been no public out cry from concerned Colorado citizens about patient's growing in their own home...except when a MAJORITY of Coloradans passed an amendment to the constitution explicitly granting that right. The city of Lafayette, home rule or not opened up a can of worms. Any 3 patients want to move here, cultivate a legal amount of plants under state law, get hassled by the city, sue the city and retire?
Council members Kracha and Ruggeri should be applauded, at least their trying to be sensible about this issue.

How does Phil Patterson still have his job?

City Planner Patterson claims that this zone wasn’t arbitrarily chosen, and definitely not chosen to make it hard for Medical Cannabis dispensaries to relocate. I agree that they weren’t arbitrarily chosen, Phil and the others at city hall who would have liked these establishments banned within city limits have deliberately made it as hard as possible for these businesses to stay in Lafayette. Watch the meetings, listen to Mayor Phillips and City Planner Patterson condescend fellow city commissioners and make light of the process, including having the chief of police lie about safety issues. The few Lafayette City Council members who are rational and make decisions based on their constituency should be applauded and noted, mainly Mayor Pro Tem Ruggeri; glad to see Phillips gone he’s a joke and for the few remaining who are up for reelection this issue will linger in November.

As far as the bingo mine is concerned, what a world we live in were someone who pilfers the disposable income from our seniors via a loosely cloaked gambling hall can make a moral judgment about anything let alone a well regulated revenue source approved by a majority of Colorado voters and protected by the state constitution.

P.s. aren’t we talking about an area that the city bailed out via taxpayers dollars anyway? Where’s that Bensman fool when you need him?

Blisa, from this and other posts you've made I'm worried that you put too much faith in our politicians. Cannabis was made illegal by the federal government because it was easy to grow, versatile and valuable. It allowed people to have too much control of their own lives...and those crazy "illegals" were using it. BTW my ancestors have had problems with immigrants ever since we moved to this country. The federal government would be wise to pursue their drug war in another state. Colorado is where the first casualty of the "WAR ON MARIHUANA" was recorded and through regulating the sale of legal cannabis by the STATE of COLORADO this is where this expensive, arbitrary and discriminatory battle will end!

Let's begin by addressing the issue that cannabis has a lower toxicity rate than asprin. As a matter of fact, food allergies kill more people per year than have EVER been recorded from cannabis overdose. I have to address the lie that standard dosages exist in ocd medicine or in any pharma for that matter. An excellent resource for all of the uneducated DRUG WARRIORS who cling so tightly to their lies and half truths is "From Chocolate to Morphine" by Dr. Andrew Weil. Read more, talk less, especially if your hell bent on spreading lies.
