I'd be willing to bet that our troops returning from war see this movie for what it is, pure fantasy, and they will not identify with either side. And if they do, this is how I predict they would make the correlation: The mercenaries in this film would be seen by our men and women in uniform as exactly what they are: The Aggressors. They would see the Na'vi as the helpless and down trodden that they are helping to liberate from terrorist forces. They would see the small band of protectors as they see themselves in the conflicts that they are now fighting: they are the liberators. The protectors. The defenders of those who cannot defend themselves. I'm a veteran. When I saw this movie I did not identify the mercenary forces as US Military.

You're saying that because I defended our men and women in uniform by pointing out that the mercenaries in this film are NOT US Military personnel? I KNOW the difference between fantasy and reality and I DO NOT attempt to blame all the world's ills on a MOVIE or Hollywood! If you ask me, it's people who claim to be Liberal and Republican who divide this country. You people aren't interested in doing what's right for AMERICA! Since when is it a film maker's job to tell people what they should take away from their movies? What was he supposed to do? Put up a big flashing banner stating: ATTENTION! THESE ARE NOT REAL US MILITARY PERSONNEL! Don't get your panties in a bunch!" Come on! It's a MOVIE! ANYone who served KNOWS the truth about our military men and women. It's my opinion that people take Hollywood FAR too seriously. They put too much stack in make believe and fantasy. Rational people know the difference. And I'll tell you something else I believe. I believe it's about time we got away from this idiotic mindset that it's Liberal vs. Republican. I'm neither. I'm an AMERICAN. Something else people seem to be missing when watching this movie is the correlation between what the corporation and mercenaries in this movie do to the Pandoran natives and the atrocities that were committed against the American Indian over gold and other minerals. Okay. First off, the mercenairies portrayed in this film are NOT military! They are all EX military. They are now mercenaries. Guns for hire. If you look at this film as what it truly is: FANTASY, then you know this film in no way demeans the US Military. It DOES however demean huge corporations and mercenary organizations that do to indigenous peoples what is done by large corporations around the world for greed. I served in both the Marines AND the Army and to say I'm proud of my service to this country and proud of our military doesn't come close to describing my love for this country and our forces. To twist this movie into something it is not is just not rational. Those mercenaries dipicted in this film are NOT US TROOPS! They are jus that: MERCENARIES hired by a greedy corporation that puts profit above life and nature.
