Daily Camera.com: : Hotel cost for local officials\' Utah meeting raises eyebrows - Boulder Daily Camera

I think it's more than principle. If the entire city started taking a more frugal stance on every dollar spent they could save enough to make a real difference.

Daily Camera.com: : Judge throws out Boulder County subdivision paving lawsuit - Boulder Daily Camera

It seems the best approach is to try and void out the 1995(?) rule change where the county choose to stop maintaining the subdivision roads. It's already been ruled that the county is responsible to maintain them and can't charge extra for it. Then they will be forced to fix them for small $ soon or mega $$$ later.

Here's a way to solve the problem. Force the entire school board to move the offices to the worst part of Casey Middle School until the problem is solved. I think it will get fixed in 1 day then.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder mobile homeowners unable to sell - Boulder Daily Camera

A mobile home is NOT an investment for the future. Unlike a brick and mortar house/condo, they depreciate over time just like a car and eventually become worthless. Leaving the owner with the cost of removing them from someone else's property. Mobile home park owners know this and most have set age limits, in the lot lease, on selling them "in-place" to keep up the value of their property. Sad but true.

Daily Camera.com: : Silver Creek drops home ec, launches business program - Boulder Daily Camera

In my opinion, the should teach both classes. The class in home economic should be required to graduate, while the business class should be an elective. Lets face it, it's more important to know how to balance a checkbook, create and live by a budget, budgeting time, knowing what different types of life insurance are for, how to choose a doctor, dentist, handyman/women, how to apply for loans, fill out a basic 1040 tax return, etc. are far more important than knowing the business laws and customs in China for 90% of people.

Daily Camera.com: : PUC rejects Boulder appeal of muni utility decision - Boulder Daily Camera

Most people that live outside the city limits (unincorporated Boulder County) want it that way (I live in one such subdivision - not affected by the muni proposal). If not they (we) would have asked to be annexed in long ago. Its nice not paying extra taxes for wasted services you don't use and laws you don't want.

There is another option. Boulder can create their vaunted muni system and exclude those portions served by the sub-stations in question. I think Boulder will lose any legal battle to take them over anyway since the people outside city limits in the areas in question have not been allowed to vote on it.

The county is shafting people that live in subdivisions. The original builder put in the roads and the cost of them was passed onto the home buyer. At the same time, the builder turned responsibility for the roads, in perpetuity, over to the county. That means to fully maintain the roads, not just patch potholes. In return the county gets the property taxes for the home to cover costs for the roads and other county services. No road will last forever, regardless of how well it maintained and anyone who says otherwise is either a liar or just plain stupid. Now the county wants to renege on there end of the deal do to them allocating funds for pet projects and taking it away from what they agreed to do. The county now wants those living in subdivisions to pay additional money for services that the county had agreed to provide when they started taxing the homeowner. In affect the country has been taxing the homeowners for services they haven't been providing but agreed to. Services they provide at no extra charge to people living on remote county roads that are not part of a subdivision. The county needs to hold up their end of the agreement like they said they would do when the subdivisions were built..

A single incident or even several doesn't change the statistical fact that guns make people safer. Even a buried study done by the Clinton administration trying to show guns are bad showed that guns are used by citizens to save lives and stop crime over 160,000 times per year.

I'm saying we keep adding gun laws and things get worse. If that doesn't tell you gun laws don't work I don't know what will. We need to allow people to protect themselves. We need to address the cause, and not the item used. The cause it the person.

If you read my original post you'd know it is. That is what the statistics show. If we make it criminal to own guns, only criminals will have guns and we will become a police state with just criminals and the govt having guns and no way for people to protect themselves. Answer this question, back in the day when guns were easy to purchase (no background checks, just walk into the local hardware store and buy whatever) there were never things like this, not one! Kids would even bring guns to school for show-and-tell and no one gave it a second thought. Why, with all the gun laws have things gotten so much worse?

The founding fathers expected people to own a firearm suitable for military use and know how to use it. The ownership of firearms for hunting and personal defense was assumed. The ownership of cannons, etc was never intended. Read all the letters and articles of the time and you will see it explained plain as day.

It's gun laws that cause the problem. Not gun ownership or the NRA. In mass shootings, where guns are already prohibited, the police end the situation with an average of 14.3 people shot. When they occur at places where guns are allowed and an armed citizen steps in to end the situation the average is 2.3 people shot. Criminals and loonies ignore the laws will always find a way to get a gun. Gun laws only disarm law abiding citizens. The results is a population left to the mercies of criminals, loonies and the Govt (oh, wait, I already mentioned loonies). We keep adding more gun laws and the situation keeps getting worse. If that doesn't make things clear to you, get a clue, less guns means more crime, more guns means less crime and less killing of innocents. Try reading John Lott instead of just drinking the KoolAid the anti-gun crowd and Democrats spoon feed you.
