Star Talk : Welcome, Aarti!

Another miss for NFNS Season 1 - The Hearty Boys - Ok Season 2 - Guy Fieri - That guy is on fire right now Season 3 - Amy Finley - Big Miss Season 4 - Aaron McCargo - Big Miss Season 5 - Melissa D'Arabian - Big Miss Season 6 - Aarti - Big Miss Can't say this show has a winning record. Guy's talent is so obvious, but the rest? I have made $10 meals out of necessity. I don't like Indian Food. Aaron's food is barbeque centric. Amy just never clicked. I wanted to learn something I would actually be able to feed my middle-america family (and they do not want indian food). I think Brad had a lot to offer - what a way to throw away a future mega talent. Someone else will get him and I will be watching. Tom was fun but probobably too McCargo, in the end. So that left Herb to fill the healthy makeover slot, which is desperately needed. I have never put a calorie counter to Rachel, Paula, and the Neeleys, but it would be way over the limit. Sorry. Just not feeling this one.

The FN Dish : Quick Vote - Melissa's New Show

Watched it once. Won't watch it again. There was just something so off-putting about everything being "yummy" and "when she was in France." I am a professional woman. "Yummy" just doesn't cut it for me. And I have already been to France. I would never in a million years make that torte - it is too time consuming and labor intensive. And the $10 must be per serving, because she had way over $10 in the torte alone, let alone the applesauce "gratin" with yougurt and syrup sauce. . .

The FN Dish : Sneak Peek: Melissa's New Show!

Well, I watched Melissa's show. It will not be on my list of shows to watch. With somewhere in the neck of the woods of 43 "Yummy's" and 53 references to "when she lived in France" she lost all her "instant credibilty" with me - the professional working mother who cooks every night - and probably everybody else on the planet. She really, really reminds me of Amy Findley. Don't need a gourmet next door - I wanted to learn something that I could actually do. It would take an act of Congress or a long holiday weekend for me to go through the trouble of making the torte and if you can buy bacon, butter, guyere, fresh thyme, and heavy cream (I don't count the potatoes - they are a staple) - for $10, I'll eat my hat. Certainly a disappointment.

Rachel signed a 2-year deal in 12/2007. I'm sure she is in contract negotiations now.

Susie, Thank you for not talking down to the viewers in your vlog this time. I appreciate your information. I still favor Jeffrey, but I will assume that the judges will choose the NFNS and I will choose whether or not I watch him/her. That is what choice is all about. Once again, thank you for your tone, information, and time.

I don't think it's right to discuss manner of death of any sort jsut prior to eating. Kind of puts me off my food.

I have two family members who have committed suicide. In conversation, I say they are deceased and really hope no one asks me how they died. I honestly, as a person who has very close relatives as victims of suicide, would never, ever mention it in that setting. While I agree that it is a sad personal story, I totally am put off by the statement and begin to question Melissa's ability to pick appropriate chatting for TV.

Well, Melissa certainly does not represent this working woman. I have worked for over twenty years and don't rush home and cook pressed chicken and bacon tortes. I am curious to see what she would cook on her "real" show.

I agree that she pulled out the sympathy card and played it very well. Having suicide in my family, I know that it is not something I would discuss on TV or in a room full of culinary elite. That is too personal, too hurtful, to even begin to lay out there for speculation. It totally lost Melissa for me. I don't want a personality for whom I feel pity, or who uses the requisite personal stories to garner sympathy and support. I think her food spoke for itself and was good - she didn't even need the pity card.

Susie: It seems that becoming the NFNS is very personally demanding and a person would have to hav very thick skin to get through this process. Does FN have any staff couselors or psychologists to help contestants process and debrief after these intense challenges? I don't know about anyone else, but I would probably implode after some of the feedback from the judges, especially in the episode 8 challenge.
