Brooks Hatch : Brooks Hatch: Tuesday update 11/16

I love Coach Casey but he comes off a little bitter when he talks about the draft. I appreciate that he wants these guys to enjoy college and have a great playing experience in Corvallis but his comments might make a kid think that OSU is not a place to go if you have professional aspirations.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Dressed for success

While I love the idea, I think we all know that a college students' business wear is rather limited. I'm picturing wrinkled khakis, hand-me-down blue blazer and hiking boots. I don't begrudge them but I think the team looks a little nicer when they are in school issued sweats compared to an ad hoc suit.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Day 17 notes

Cliff sorry this is off-topic but thought you, or another reader, might have an answer. I was in Portland last week and made a trip through the Beav store to secure some new Orange prior to the TCU game and noticed there is quite a bit of apparel made by Adidas. Previously it seemed that everything was Nike...is there a new contractual arrangement or has there always been room for multiple companies?

Cliff, any insight into this seemingly sudden North Carolina connection? I love that the Beavs are expanding their reach but just curious as to what brought them to this particular school.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Riley on expansion, USC (update)

If they go forward with the North/South deal (with the Bay Area schools in the North) and can guarantee a crossover game at SC or UCLA every other year that wouldn't be terrible. I don't know if it could even work that way because I'm too lazy to chart it. Still I prefer the zipper approach.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Football future schedule

Brooks, apologies if this has been asked and answered, and it has nothing to do with this post, but was there ever anything official from Coach Casey that K Rhod would move into a setup role? I know he was having his struggles so I can understand the move but just never heard anything official about it. Thanks.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: USC deal done

I think this is great. Kiffin is going to have those guys on probation more often than Charlie Sheen plus he has yet to prove that he can do anything other than make an ass of himself. He'll have a great staff which should help but long-term I just don't see how he can keep that ship sailing.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Riley staying at OSU

Not that I think any of us need to be concerning ourselves with succession planning right now...by the way I think the HC in waiting thing is a poor approach...but my instant thought for replacement if Riley did leave was Jay Locey. Great success as a head coach, brought much of the "family approach" to OSU and would likely be able to put together a strong staff. But fortunately we don't have to worry about any of that. Would love nothing more than to see Riley reward Beaver Nation with a huge season next year and for Beaver Nation to pack Reser to the rim from Game 1.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: A football playoff?

I've always liked the idea of the champs of each of the major conferences plus an at large or two in a playoff...the playoff games would still be the major bowl games as we currently know them (Orange, Fiesta, Rose, etc). The rest of the traditionally bowl eligible teams would still fill out the bowl schedule. It's a win-win...we get a true national champ decided by a playoff system while keeping the bowl system in tact and all other teams still have a chance to extend their season, play on national tv, get some extra money and extra practice too.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Vegas game thread

One of the few times where I'm just truly disappointed in the Beavs. No passion, no effort, just going through the motions...very uncharacteristic. Well hopefully a rare sh**ty end to the season will mean a rare strong beginning to 2010.
