I'm sure the lady who was hit is comforted by the fact that it was the trucker's fault. . . .

Would have been better for everybody if she had realized the reality, that she's a very small fragile bicyclist sharing the road with a very large powerful truck, and all the right of way in the world won't keep her from being crushed like a bug if the truck made a mistake.

Can't give the bike the right of way if the bike can't be seen. Small things, bikes. Especially from way up there in that big cab.

I know that bicycles have the legal right of way in Portland, but they take advantage of it and act like they own the road. Right of way or no, cyclists need to remember that when they tangle with a vehicle, the driver of the vehicle isn't the one that will be going to the hospital. Ride accordingly. Your right of way is not a force-field of invulnerability.
