Good point - the US data is definitely not both cars and light trucks. They're usually split pretty evenly. It's probably just cars. But is the Chinese data cars only as well (apples to apples)? How much of their vehicle sales would be light truck though?

Don't those questions (car loan, mortgage provider) arise when someone pulls your credit? I guess the real question is, how did they pull your credit without your SSN, and why do they need that info for such a simple transaction?

check out commercial office space in orange county. these places are full of desks, chairs, phones, computers, from brokers who make a killing in a few years, shut down and vacated the offices. it's clear that tons of wealth shifted into the hands of originators for those few years.

I got this same e-mail earlier today. It feels like AA is trying to take us back into the early 90's. Essentially AA will have the same integration as Southwest, but for some reason I have no harsh feelings towards Southwest's integration with travel search.

Can't people diversify their cash savings across accounts at multiple banks (ensuring that each never passes $100K)? Every dollar could be insured. It doesn't seem that difficult to open another online savings account and ETF/wire the cash around. If only I needed to execute such a strategy...
