I love it when we're Crewsin' together : Lyndsay's presents are wrapped!

Well, I bet Kelli plays by the rules and doesn't try to peek at her presents before Christmas. Last year I caught Lyndsay snooping. She said that by wrapping something in a gift bag, I was basically telling her, "Sure! Go ahead and have a look at it early." So, this year I opted for the wrapping job that says, "Get the heck away from this present until 12/25. Because it might actually be a bomb."

Michael Hyatt Blog : Book Notes: Mentor Like Jesus by Regi Campbell

This past friday I got to attend Donald Miller's Nashville stop on his book tour. It was excellent--in it, he issued a big wake up call for the church to support mentoring. Feeling so inspired, I found a couple books about mentoring at the local library and checked them out over the weekend. They are really interesting, but they base their perspectives on psychology rather than Jesus Christ. I am glad to have them, but the review you posted lets me know that this would be an excellent supplement to my development as I begin looking for opportunities to mentor. This opportunity is perfectly timed, and I would really enjoy getting to read this book!

It's my understanding that you get Tony Dungy to mentor you by having an illegal dogfighting ring at your house. One that gets you sent to jail for animal cruelty. Are there any other proven methods?

Alright. So with the score currently 40 to 3, it sounds like Jake, my sister, and I are having a grilled cheese party and none of the rest of you are invited. Fortunately for you all, it doesn't appear that you think you're missing out on anything...

I love it when we're Crewsin' together : My iPhone 3GS letter to AT&T

I know! Makes me so mad. (Just for the record, all prices I quoted were for two people...for an individual plan, it's a $30 data fee and $5 for 200 text messages per month on top of your regular minutes. With the family share plan, instead of allowing some sort of 'shared' option...they just double it)

I love it when we're Crewsin' together : Facebook ads insult my IQ.

Ah. I see what you're saying... ...because different people have different sized pools of friends, the "odds" fluctuate from person to person. I gotcha. But your calculations seem to imply that it's less likely random chance (based on my situation alone) even than I was thinking. Hm. Go on facebook and find this ad and tell me how it goes for you. ...but even with all your econometrics gobbledygook, I'm still reading that it's possible that the facebook computers know so much about everything that they might be about to arm themselves and start an insurrection.

I love it when we're Crewsin' together : Poindexter Nut Company ...wow, that was gross.

UPDATE: I've actually been in contact with Mike from the Poindexter Nut Company for the last couple weeks as he's followed up on this. I've actually learned a few interesting facts. 1) The actual company that put the almonds (and bird bone) in the bag and sent it off to me was a company in California called Supreme Almond. Mike sent me the apology letter he got from a Mr. Tim Bloemhof of Supreme Almonds of California in Wasco, CA, which I read to say, "We're following all the laws and regulations here so I'm sorry...but...not much else here to do." 2) Mike said that since my email, the Poindexter Nut Company has not purchased any nuts from the Supreme Almonds of California Company. So it sounds like the folks at Poindexter have addressed the problem and fixed it. 3) I'm not sure if I said it clearly above, but I never actually asked Mike for a refund, which was why it never came up as Mike and I exchanged emails. If I'd wanted a refund, I just would have gone back to Kroger and gotten it. I was more interested in--first, confirming that it was a bird bone and second, seeing what would happen if I just let it play out. And Mike's solution was to send me a product to replace the bad product. 4) Lyndsay and I overcame our initial superstition and we've been eating the replacement bags of nuts. And they're fine. Delicious and nutritious. And bone free. :) 5) Mike from Poindexter has been incredibly helpful through this whole process. He's done a great job of keeping me informed when it would have been easier to disregard me and leave me out of the loop as his company checked into things. He's also been great about letting me know what his company was doing to fix the problem. All in all, I'm very impressed with Mike. Just thought I'd share.

I love it when we're Crewsin' together : Happy Mothers Day

Hahaha. Nonono! SLR's are so much fun! In fact, Lyndsay and I have already established that whenever we decide to have kids, I get to go buy an SLR. It's like a consolation prize. :) There are so many cool accessories with SLRs...lenses, flashes, fliters...I loved my film SLR back when I used it. The real thing that makes the pictures look better is that I have a program called Aperture. On PCs, there's Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop Elements. Even Picasa does a good job. That's where the fun is for me.

I had to call HP technical support today for a computer at work...and I remembered exactly why I hate HP. It was terrible. He did speak better english than the guy at microsoft, though. It only really got bad when he said he couldn't help me and then he said he'd transfer me to "level 2 support" and he just transferred me into the abyss for 15 minutes of bad music until I finally gave up.

I avoid checking voicemail. I realized one month that my wife and I spent 75 of our monthly plan minutes that month checking voicemail. Ridiculous! I pay for service every month so I can talk on my cell phone to PEOPLE...not my voicemail. So now I wait for the messages to collect and then listen to them that weekend when airtime is free. Haven't missed anything too important yet...
