There are some very good DOJ opinions on this. I believe these DOJ opinions better reasoned and articulated that the Supreme Court decision which seemed to say impeachment was the only remedy. The DOJ opinions conclude in would violate the seperation clause to criminally prosecute a President while in office. I am not sure if they deal with "treason or murder" in their opinion. The DOJ briefs and opinions were in 1973 (I believe it dealt with Agnew and Nixon) and the one in 2000 dealt with Clinton.
