Single Parent Dad : Not interested in my child\'s school work

You're not the only one. We had the same talk with my daughter's teacher last week. She's been sending home books for kids more than two years beyond her peers. We told the teacher to slow down since she's going to be at that level soon enough there's no point in pushing her.

Mint water? Why not just chew a piece of gum before you drink a glass of regular water? Wouldn't that be cheaper?
http://bloggingmama-andrea.blogspot.com/ : Facebook: Just how young is acceptable

I'm not sure on the TOS, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's 13 or with parental consent. My niece got an account (just turned 14) on the condition that she add some family (aunts, uncles) as friends so we can "watch" her. It's been... interesting. I've got another friend who setup her 11 year old younger brother's account (with parental permission), so I think they're getting at this stuff younger and younger now.

That dress/slip thing looks like one of my grandmother's old tablecloths... I wonder if my mom still has it in her basement.
http://bloggingmama-andrea.blogspot.com/ : Fan flops and flips

I'm a fan of neither, but you just described Toronto fans (all teams: Leafs, Jays, Raptors) perfectly (I am a fan of none of the teams, but I listen to sports talk radio in Toronto). One win and they're headed for a championship, one loss and they need to rebuild the entire roster. Makes no sense to me. Then again, I still say I'm a fan of the Detroit Lions, so...
http://bloggingmama-andrea.blogspot.com/ : Not enough to be one cohesive thought...

I don't post reviews on my primary blog, yet my comment count has dropped as well, so I don't think it's that. (My personal theory is the post-BlogHer dropoff: if you didn't schmooze enough - or go at all - to BlogHer, then your blog becomes secondary to a lot of people since they have "new" sites to visit. It happens every year, and then numbers pick up once the "newness" wears off.)
I don't know... but if I intended to give $5 and only had a $20, I'd be inclined to either tell the kid to come back later or ask them if they have change. I wouldn't drop $20 myself, especially not if my own kid was responsible for coming up with some donations.

http://bloggingmama-andrea.blogspot.com/ : Let\'s be British: If you heard it for long enough you\'d do it to.

When I first started university (in the middle of Canada as opposed to the US border where I grew up) people said I sounded like an American. When I was in my 20s I worked in Montreal. As a kid, I spent my summers in Northern Quebec (where they speak a french dialect called Nordique) but I also studied Parisian french through elementary and high school. So, I was an anglophone, speaking Parisian french with a Nordique accent in a place where everyone else had a Quebecois accent. Every time I spoke someone asked me where I was from because the combination hid my anglophone roots.
