once again "blogchoker" It is not METH, it is METHADONE. If your "loved one" was going to get their "METH", it was not from a methadone clinic. You claim to know what you are talking about, you can rattle off some info(heck you could of copied and pasted those couple of sentences) but you still cannot call the two drugs by their right names. Have you ever heard the term book smart? Sure you have. There is a big diff. in book smart and really knowing what the heck your talking about.
The clinic on Jake does do drug testing, random and observed drug testing. There is no treatment that is without the pts that try to play the system. The pts are tested, they get TH`s after they are in treatment for awhile and prove themselves to be responseable enough to get them. The system is not foolproof but what system is?? IS THERE ANYTHING I HAVE LEFT OUT "blogchoker"?

For those who still what to look down on me they can, but at least I am honest enough to come here, and be honest about my failures, and my triumphs. I use my experiences to try to guide others. I now counsl. and pray for people. I am now what some may call a sucsess story. I was able to be on MMT for 8yrs. I never had a dirty urine test, earned "tH`s" that I kept locked in a safe. I took my treatment seriousely. 2 of the 8yrs I was able to successfully slowely taper off methadone. I attended counsl and group meetings and returned to school to be able to help other people with the same disease. So no I am not enslaved, it empowered me to turn my life around. That is what all is missing here. If used right MMT can save lives, If used wrong it can indeed kill.
I respect you for trying to learn about MMT instead of just judging it. It is called Methadone Maintenance Therapy because most pts are maintained on it. This type of therapy is not intended for someone that has just become physically dependent on a few pain pills. it is for pts that have tried other forms of treatment, that have a true addiction, a disease that they need treatment for in order to save their lives, and to help them live a productive life. It is not to be over used by all of these your people that have abused pain pills for a few months and do not want to face being sick for about a week. This type of person is not what MMT is for. It is a serious drug and it should be a serious decision to go on this type of treatment. This is what has me so frustrated, the people here do not understand what MMT is and how it can be useful because alot of the younger crowd has misused MMT WITH horrible consequences
the medication that is sent home as a "takehome" is in a single dose, child proof medication bottle that is clearly labeled just as any other rx is. The requirement to recieve "TH`s" is clean drug tests, usual it takes almost a year to recieve 2 or 3 a week. the patient also most bring a locked box to pick up ther meds. They are supposed to store their "TH`s in a locked box or small safe. So IF the baby did indeed get ahold of methadone it would of had to been put into a food container. Everone has failed to think about something. doctors are now perscribing methadone at all the pain clinics because they do not want to perscribe oxycontins anymore. So the methdone is not just coming from methdone clinics but from pain clinics.

It is no longer a "high" for them, but it becomes just trying not to be sick from day to day. MMT when used CORRECTLY can give that person a chance to put their lives back on track. It is not for someone to go to a clinic just because all their friends are just because they have become physically dependant on a few pain pills for a few months. MMT is for real addiction problems. So if you would, read up on it and come back here and try to educate the uneducated. From your comments I feel you can be open minded and from your posts you seem pretty smart. Could you do something when you have a few minutes? look up methadone maint therapy and read about it. It is not the perfect therapy by far. Addiction is an illness. once a person has it, it is no longer a choice of theirs. If they have tried other treatments and truely need MMT and are serious about their treatment, then MMT can be a lifesafer. I the wrong hands it can be a killer like anything thing else that is not used right. If a person has an illness and a medication can make them live a productive, and healthier life, would that medication be withheld or perscribed? That is the same with MMT.

I guess this story is just about school kids doing a good job. Not enough controversy for anyone to comment. If it was written about the ABC board, or a rape by a father, or Stimulus money fixing a road it would be interesting enough to comment on.
To me kids doing a good job is what it should be all about. Our future is in their hands!
It is really ashamed their isn't more communities involved. I noticed that East Rowan is not participating. It would really be good if East Rowan could pull together(Faith,Granit Quar. Rockwell, Boston HTS, Goldhill) If we had just a percentage of participation in this as there is every year for the 4th of July celebration in Faith we may have a chance at seeing some of the crimes go down. (Please do not take offence that I used the 4th Of July Celebration in Faith as an example, I respect our country`s birthday and enjoy Faith`s celebration, I do not mean any slight to this event) I just wish this part of Rowan County would participate in this very worth while event
