HGTV Design Star : Challenge 9: Meet Your New Design Star, Part 2

I completely agree... I am just so sorry so many of the Dan fans are so ugly and hateful about the win. In past season I would not have been so angry and vicious about the other person winning who was not my pick. What's up with these mean people? They have a choice: don't watch. No one cares how mad they are! I am happy you wrote you fine comment. Ha! we share a last name!

HGTV Design Star : Chat Live With Antonio

hmmm, so many people with sour grapes and a mean spirt commenting....good grief... There are far more serious things in this world to get all wound up about... I take design very seriously myself but I can't hate any of the designers or say such ugly things about the ones who were sent home. Stop it and get a life all the gripping complainers! Do not watch Antonio's show if you don't want to, who cares???? there are plenty who will and really like it. You all are so boring with the slams and slurs, they will not change anything, they just make you all look goofy... I guess they make you feel good or something??? enough already!

HGTV Design Star : Preview of Challenge 9: The Finale

How can anyone criticise any of these rooms...how many of you have ever renovated a house? How long did it take? I'm sure it was not complete in 4 days... I completely forgive some oversight like not quite getting the couch in the right place or remembering to put an edge on the tile...think of how many details they had to figure out FAST and do FAST. The furniture can be rearranged, the finish edge put on the tile, storage added in the little boys room. I give them both an A+. I am delighted Antonio won, he has been my pick from day one. I think Dan is great, I offer congratulations to both of them for jobs beautifully done. I'd hire either to help me design my next remodel.

the error was the unfinished top edge...it just ended meeting the wall. although that tile is beautiful it will get so groddy in a kitchen application because it is three dimensional: lots of little edges sticking out to catch dust, grease, food... David is right, something colorful a beautiful sparkling glass would have been perfect and easy to keep clean because it has a flat face... Dan did not loose because of his choice of tile. He lost because he is more of the same type of designer already on HGTV. HGTV wants something different than they already have...Dan is darling and a fine designer, Antonio rocks TV. For everyone of you who are pouting about Antonio winning and say you won't watch there are 10 who will. I'm looking forward to next Sunday!!

HGTV Design Star : David's Vlog: Lay Off Dan's Giggling

I like the Design to Sell shows. The realestate shows looking a sad houses that didn't get staged is mind numbing. International House hunting is interesting because of the locations and the styles of the houses are so different from what we see in American homes typically... I like HGTV because I go to it from "news" shows and all the political banter that has me worn to a nub, I have HGTV on a lot these days.

yeah, OkieJohn2 i am really tired of the realestate shows, they are so redundant and the hosts and buyers are truly dull...I say the more design shows the better! Let's let Antonio and Dan each have a show...their shows take the place of a real estate show.

I think what happens is we get such a quick glimpse of each room, each contestant, each thing that is said by a contestant, then each of these glimpses has been edited to get us all talking about it-what we see, what we heard, that instant Rorshach (sp?) ink blot thought-all of us will see and hear something entirely different. In the end we are arguing apples and oranges. I like the many functions in the nursery-as a mother of two and grandmother of twin babies I KNOW all that furniture in the middle of the floor is not well placed for nursery function. I am not at all arguing against Dan's ideas or skills. I like to incorporate function into the design, how would Dan know how inconvenient all the stuff in mid room will be in getting to the crib and changing table. they will figure all that out. the winner has already been picked...one person commenting here has a link to an article in the Portland paper with an interview with Dan since this show we are talking about...maybe he is the winner, he invites everyone to a local bar to watch the show with him Sunday???

Hi, AllyK, oh my goodness you are in a dither...my comment about borrowing was about my initial reaction when I saw him paint the cloud painting for the baby's room...as I said I think Dan is a top notch designer...if he wins he will be another cute design guy which all good...the banter is about the final win. Antonio has always been my top choice because I believe he is good TV material: INTERESTING. Not that Dan isn't a good designer, he is but he is a bit plain vanilla for me. Dan's show would be nothing like David's that is just silly...I just wondered why he did that not very good painting which just added to the clutter of that nursery...no big deal.

Dan is a good designer but I cringe when he borrows from David....it is too obvious. I think his white room challenge was brilliant. The nursery had some good elements but way too crowded...he has never had a baby in his arms and walked across a cluttered floor, has he? I couldn't really tell what all he did in that room there was so much stuff in there. The ribbed boat hull mobile was clever but all i can think of is who is going to get on a ladder and dust them? Kids room, dust, not a good combo... Dan is cute, David is cute, both have very different styles... Dan is probably basically the better designer. David, however is awesome TV...cute, hunky, sweet, over the top color dude and GREAT for HGTV, I love watching his show even if I hate the design, I LOVE the show, David and his adorable girl painter...they are a feast for the eyes. very sweet and fun.

I really like Lonni and her style but it is not unique for TV...she is beautiful, well spoken, presents herself well. Like many others of us have commented she is just one more good looking blonde for HGTV. The bottom line thought, for me, in all of this is: TV SHOW. HGTV is looking for new and fresh to attrack viewers. Lonni's style is very very nice but not WOWwy! enough for TV. I adore Candice Olsen's show the best of all but she has a huge budget to work with and she uses HER lines of furniture, fabrics, lights, carpets, she is an industry within herself. We can't compare Devine Design to a competition show that is so limited in time and money like Design Star. Maybe Lonni will be the on line designer, I wish them all well. I'm holding out for Antonio, I think he is very interesting and a good designer, he'll make a great TV SHOW.

Susan, I am sorry you see him that way...maybe you've never known a New Yorker... Antonio is not violent, he has strong opinions - huge difference. He has high standards, likes to do a good job, all this makes some men seem grumpy. I see a man who is tough but kind, he is smart and doesn't suffer fools. I don't get your view at all. I see him being wildly successful on HGTV. TV this is TV, TV TV... he is very cool. No bets here but I will watch him and so will millions of others.

Vern is a bit twerpy in some of his more unkind remarks and frankly most of his designs are rather predictable. Nice, yes, very nice but so is Pottery Barn... I think criticism is valuable but snide and snarky comments are not. bleh, Vern...be nice. or we won't believe you are really as nice as you SEEM on your own nice show. David would be a breath of fresh air but he's still sorta new to TV so maybe there is a hierarchy protocol??

David, darling, you do not need a clone competetor in Dan. I wish Dan all the best but Antonio is the man! He is GOOD TV. YOU are good TV - no one is more telegenic than you, David. Antonio PROJECTS on camera, he can be trained, like you were, how to talk to the folks in TVland... he has a schlubby dress style but that can be fine tuned... and he is a decent designer, he seems blustery but he is a nice guy, he always thanks his helpers, always shakes hands or hugs the other contestants - he HELPS the others when needed, what is not to like about him? ...all of his clients from the child to the Hollywood celebrity really dig him. I loved his office space except i would have put a larger carpet in front of fireplace, the color purple is awesome with Kathy G.'s red hair, I have same I know. HGTV is about the SHOW. Gimme Antonio any day, PLEASE. I still love you too, cute boy. p.s. I think Antonio's dress style might be a Hollywood hipster deal...very 80s grunge band which kind of suits him...

right on, Sandy! most people making comments must want to see more of the same kind of shows already on HGTV...go Antonio! his show will be edgy, fun and INTERESTING to watch... Lonni and Dan are sweet, cute and competent. I want someone is all about excellence, like Candice but with a bit more edge and can say thank you to the help and be funny with his client! whoa?
ilka, He's not a jerk he is a New Yorker, he already is a professional designer in the movies...where time is lots of money so he gets impatient will slowww people. I completely agree HGTV needs new personalities, he will be terrific on a show! The wardrobe-make-up people will have a field day with his "look" - the show will be fun and GOOD. I like honesty. why does hot always have to come up? NONE of these designers fit THAT silly category!
