It is a hard thing to do - and I know because I've reported my son for crimes in the past. I would do it again if necessary because I didn't raise him (or any of my kids) to commit crimes. I tried to teach them to respect the law and other people's life and property.

This mother likely felt much the same. I hate the word "closure" but this is the quickest a case like this has gotten solved in a long time. Thank you to the suspect's mom and my heart goes out to you.

My prayers go out to the family and friends of the victim. He sounds like he was a nice young man just trying to make a living and have a good life.

Just don't stand behind him when he looks in the mirror or he'd find a way to try and blame you.

If she has room, maybe the woman who found him can have him live in her adult care home. She seems to have far more compassion than the place he's living now. God Bless Her.

The story says she disappeared BEFORE the ex was ordered to pay her the money. She disappeared May 20, also according to the story.

"The Tacoma News Tribune earlier reported that Kagawa and her ex-husband had discussed an upcoming court hearing during the phone call on May 18. At the hearing five days later, Kagawa's ex-husband was ordered to pay her a $67,000 settlement, the newspaper reported."

I hope they find out how and why she died. IF it was a murder, I pray they find out WHO did it.

I'm glad it turned out okay for you. So many times they don't.

Did you even read my comment? I did NOT say that all parents who need support should give the children up. What I said was that people who CANNOT deal with their children (or WILL NOT deal with them appropriately) should give them up to people who CAN and WILL deal with them. I have a grandson with CP, mild retardation, speech problems and little/no impulse control. He is a handful but his mother has fought for AND received services for him over/above his father's objections. She left the father so he COULD get the services needed. He has come a long way. He is much easier to understand, walks without need of a wheelchair (which he would have been in 4 years ago), and is in junior high school. He still has impulse control issues but is coming along very well. He is a delight to everyone he meets. At 12 years old he is taller than his mom but still child like. Yes, I understand the problems of getting support for special needs children.

I may not have walked in the shoes of the people in this story, but what they did was ABUSIVE. There ARE services for children diagnosed with autism, retardation, cerebral palsy, and a myriad of other "dis"abilities. You just have to reach out and keep trying. You DON'T lock children in a caged room.

I'm sure parents of ANY child can get burout but the fact is that they ARE parents and should act like it. You can cite any website you want to but the fact is that what these so-called parents did was abusive and unforgivable. Children diagnosed with autism (make no mistake they are children NOT the diagnosis) are still children deserving of love and understanding. They didn't choose to be born and certainly would not choose the diagnosis they have been stuck with. Yes, there are problems but the problems are rarely unsurmountable. If the parents find that they can't deal with it, they should give the children up.

My thoughts as well. I can't even conceive of this type of abuse going unnoticed by a MOTHER. She doesn't even deserve that title. She may have carried and given birth but she is not a mother. I pray her other child is in a home where she is loved and cared for by someone who deserves to be called mom.
