Who is making anything up? Just because you don't want to believe something - like the fact that our government went on record back in 1797 that it wasn't founded on the Christian religion - doesn't mean that it's made up. What it means is that you'd better go back to school and get you s,more learning... Yes, I know all about the words that our founders had inscribed on various things. So what? Look, let's bottom line this thing. A lot of our founders were Christians ...some were non-believers and and a lot were deists....again, so what? This country was founded so people could worship as they pleased and build their churches where they pleased (hello, New York?). Why can't you get this? It's about freedom....leave those not like you alone. But, for the record, BHO is very much like you (as far as religion is concerned). Peace.

My goodness, what rhetoric. Irish Kay, I'm sorry to disappoint you but, actually, we aren't a Christian nation. If you don't believe me and want proof, read the Treaty of Tripoli. Copies of the treaty were given to the senators. That treaty was read aloud and ratified - unanimously - by the United States Senate on June 17, 1797. It was signed into law by President John Adams June 20, 1797. And it specifically says in Article 11: "As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen,—and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries." But all that aside, what I don't get is why you want to inject religion into a discussion about politics. That's what all the Muslim nations do - and we really are better than that. One of the (many) great things about the good 'ol USA is that we are free to be whatever we want. So why then are you trying to force your religion on others? Why are you all so afraid? You ratchet up fear faster than an auctioneer solicits bids. Everybody take a deep breath... Ours is a great country. The fact that we have a president that you don't like does not mean it's the end of the world. This great nation has always ebbed and flowed. And after eight miserable years where the Rs took us from budget surpluses to budget deficits - as well as two wars that they put on the national credit card - people decided that they'd probably have better luck with the Ds. Give the Ds time, they'll pull this thing out of the ditch. Everybody chill. And, in the meantime, try to cut back on all the fear mongering.
