Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: UCLA fallout

Cliff, I know coaches make game plans, but the point was when the plan is not working give the kids a chance to win. We did not send enough people against UCLA to shut down their running game! On offense, we did not through slants or short passes and/or let Quizz get outside, the times we did that were successful. A head coach needs to step in and adjust the game plan when things are not working.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: UCLA fallout

Cliff, The UCLA game makes me wonder how much game planning Riley is doing before and during the game. We did not adjust to their running game at all, we get a description of the challenge of the pistol offense and then we get no penetration at all, no run blitz schemes, just making tackles after 6 yard gains. Another reason for more blitz activity is our weak corners, UCLA was getting six or more years every time with flat passes. Next how about the offensive play calling, 14 carries for our running back, we get the ball with four minutes, we make 8 yards on a run, and then decide to t hrow twice on our own ten yard line, makes no sense esepcially when Katz is having a poor day. Look forward to your comments, I just think Riley needs to be more active on the sidelines and over rule his coaches some of the time on both sides of the ball.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: OSU this weekend

Don't understand how we can shoot 34% from the field, with most of the missed shots inside the paint. Same thing happened in our loss to Stanford, somebody needs to ask coach why we can't sink good shots inside? UCLA bothered us, did not allow many outside shots, and after all of that we still had our chance if we had taken care of the ball..turnovers kill you in close games.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Civil War postgame

If you look at the four games we lost, we gave up deep passes to Arizona and Cincy, and then to Oregon on the third and long? I guess we knew our secondary would be a question mark this year. I agree that our red zone plays should have included some passes to the tight end? The other was basic tackling, hard to get Masoli down for some reason. Third and fourth downs were a killer for our defense, it is too bad, the kids had a great year. What we don't need to do is duplicate Oregon or UCLA and roll over to a lessor team in Las Vegas. Go Beave!

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Cincy postgame

We turn field goals into TDs we win the game! Our safety got beat twice on the same play, before the half how do you let someone get behind you with 36 seconds left?? I agree play calling was poor, going to the Rogers too much. we had a first and goal, Riley admits to that series being poor; what happened to t he tight ends in the red zone series?? Hopefully we can learn from this; be smarter, involve more players, both lines need to keep getting better, we can beat UA and ASU...
