Hockey Independent : Gretzky resigns, takes final leak on his legacy

I can't believe that you're taking a shot at Gretzky for the way things played out in Phoenix. He is the greatest hockey player in league history and he's done more to grow the game than anyone could have ever asked. He wasn't the greatest coach in NHL history by any means but the way he has been treated throughout this debacle with the NHL and Balsillie is a joke. He deserved better than he got and both sides should be embarrassed about how they treated him.

Hockey Independent : Furious 2007 Brian Burke travels through time to berate 2009 Brian Burke

Burke explained that since he was talking to Boston about his intentions that it's not the same. So we're supposed to believe that if Lowe had just called Burke all would have been good. I don't believe that. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/story/?id=290397&...

Edmonton still killed the NHLs "2nd contract" Really??? Look at the second contract that Nash or Bergeron received. Those did just as much to inflate the price as anything the Penner signing did. All Burke had to do was qualify Penner and he wouldn't have lost him. Instead he chose to go the road where he hoped he could low ball Penner on a longer term deal and got bit in the ass trying it.

Nice post! Present Day Burke should be assured though that if the signing doesn't work he can always get promoted like Lowe did.

Hockey Independent : Questions Which Need Your Answers

   1. Havlat, that deal just ties your hands for far too long 2. I'd bet on Skille he's just got sick talent 3. Not sure it matters if either one has to play more than 10 games the Hawks could be in real trouble 4. Toews who will use a strong spot to grab the 13th forward spot on Team Canada 5. A lack of cap space will make a move impossible until later in the season 6. Sharp maybe for that physical d-man but I doubt it 7. Proven goal tending 8. Top ten not good enough for the top five 9. Top five 10. 112 and they win the division

Do the Isles have regulars? They actually make the Oil look good by comparison.
