Big Government : Planned Parenthood vs Komen: PP Gets Its Thug On

Thanks for posting this. I shared this article on facebook to counteract all the liberal clap-trap that's been on my feed the past couple of days. Already received a rebuttal that fell flat on its face.

"She is the secretary of state and came within a whisper of being the first president of the United States." Wow! Hillary Clinton was born a mere 158 years AFTER George Washington was sworn in as our first president. What a whisker thin margin of victory that was for old Georgie! So close, and yet so very far...

I see the problem. The bill is too short. She needed another 3187 pages to obfuscate the intent. Then it would be okay.

This is the second time you've invoked that adoption of unwanted children thing in responding to me. This must be a very important issue for you. I don't claim to have full knowledge of the adoption process, but it is my understanding that churches and local organizations don't actually adopt children. Families do. Now an orphanage might be sponsored or run by a church or local organization, but I don't believe that extends to actual adoptions. How many children have you adopted?

Being completely ruined through no fault of your own is not "wrong", it's "life". If I got hit and killed by a bus I couldn't be expected to be brought back to life just because it was no fault of my own. Bad things happen, even to good people. We should do what we can to help each other out when we can. (Hint: death by bus is a time when we can't)

Has it ever occurred to you that the reason it *seems* there is a trend toward social Darwinism by conservatives is because that's how the left continually paints us? When we find a way to do it without government assistance? This country was founded on the principles of doing just that. The government did not used to dole money out to people on a whim and the country flourished and prospered. People worked hard and worked together. Now I'm not saying that everyone had every need taken care of all the time. Sure people had hardship and people die. But people are generally good and will genuinely give of their own free will when they see a genuine need they are able to address. Slowly, over time, progressive thought led to government suggesting "We'll take care of this for you," and "We'll take care of that for you, don't you fret now." Now some people come to expect it and depend on it. I agree that we can do better to address these shortcomings than we have. I'll admit that I believe there are major shortcomings in churches and other charitable entities to address these issues in this day. But I would also contend that these shortcomings have developed over the same timeframe as they were being undermined by a government taking over roles it was never meant to.

You know what? Our views on society aren't really all that different. We both feel that if someone is down on their luck that society should step in to lend a helping hand. The big difference is that for you society = government and for me society = community.

While the "Yes!" did come across as callous, it was more in response to the notion of individual responsibility than that we want people to die. And Ron Paul hit the nail on the head when he answered that friends and churches can step in to help out those in need. Community is where it's at, not Washington.

This was an excellent question and one I very much wanted to hear each comment on. Unfortunately the moderators kept changing the premise (or the question entirely) after only one or two participants responded. I was also wanting to hear everyone's answer to the Fair Tax question but Wolf only had one person respond to that before changing the question entirely.

This is essentially the answer I was waiting to hear. I say essentially because I would have worded it more like: "You *deserve* to keep all of it, but as a citizen of this country I would hope you feel it is your *duty* and/or *privilege* to help provide for the government to perform its (constitutionally mandated) functions." P.S. (And no more.)
