So, lets get this right everyone....Shamaness would rather invest 6 million into the educational system to eliminate trailers, instead of investing it on a quality education. Shamaness also doesn't care what goes on in other states/communities, only this one. Well DUH....wouldn't it be more wise to learn from other communities failures and study their successes? Shamaness wants us all to come together to question the decisions made by our local officials....I SAY we should involve ourselves BEFORE the decisions are made and make our opinions known. Shamaness says that our government authority is notorious for intelligent manipulation regarding tax and law.....DUH AGAIN.....because that's true for all communities and all governments....not just this one.....I suggest you get used to it.
On the subject of education....if you want to support education I suggest you buy a lottery ticket. The state of New Jersey spends the MOST tax dollars per student in the nation...and the state of Utah spends the least. And guess which state produces the better educated student....UTAH!!! It's not the quality of the classroom that gives our children a good education....it's the quality of the TEACHERS!! If my child has to sit in a trailer in order to have a QUALITY teacher standing in front of him....I'm OK with that!! We should all be more concerned that Bev Perdue is slashing the hell out of teachers pay. What good teachers we have are probably now looking elsewhere for opportunities.
On the subject of the jail....If we had enough space to house the criminals, the judges wouldn't feel the pressure to release as many people as they do, and there would be LESS of a 'revolving door.' We are currently PAYING other counties to house our overflow of inmates to keep Rowan county OUT of trouble with the state for overcrowding. That's a huge waste of our tax dollars right there. Building a new jail does not SUPPORT crime. Giving our sheriff and police depts tools, technology, and manpower combats crime. If we end up with more beds in the jail then criminals to fill them...so be it....then we will have space to rent to other counties with overcrowding problems and MAKE money.

Well, if the adoptive father is the biological father of the baby....he's not in jail YET for getting a 12 year old pregnant because the baby has to be born first, then the DNA test done to prove he IS the guilty one. I'm sure ALL municipalities have laws against 40 year olds getting 12 year olds pregnant. It's just that they have to wait for the baby to be born first in order to start the process of proving WHO the father is.
Read the article again....the man that hit the police cruiser was 72 years old. He probably wasn't on a cell phone, and he probably should have had his license taken from him long before now. Maybe if he hadn't put off his cataract surgerty he would have been able to SEE the police cruiser he hit!

I agree, refusing to sell someone your pain pills is not a reason to die. BUT, would you want an innocent person to fry for it? I would hope not. There is the reason for the trial. Sorry people, but it's the American way. Innocent until proven guilty. Will this guy be proven such? We will just have to wait and see.
