I wouldn't make the leap that either was intoxicated or he was running for other reasons. I would also think that maybe he was trying to make it to a nearby home when he got out of his car. When people are injured, especially as seriously as he was, they often go in to panic mode and a flight or fight response. I'm sure he was desperate to get help for is injury at that point. Much of the equipment is specially fit to that athlete and not just in size, etc. Certain taping, feel, use etc. And then to add to the stress she was already under she gets the stress of trying to figure this out.. Just because there's olympic training doesn't mean they would be able to get decent poles or the correct ones in that short of a time period either. I agree she shouldn't blame the "losing my title" that could have happened anyway, but it is very frustrating when you don't have everything that you would use under normal circumstances. At the price of them giving us 2 nights in a nice hotel on the beach, vouchers for airfare, first class seats on our flight, food vouchers, and RT transportation to and from the airport... they thought we were doing them a favor... HECK no...Delta gave us an extended 2 day vacation in one of my favorite places! FYI..when I travelled between Honolulu and Seattle twice a month a few years back almost all of their flights are overbooked... so this is the perfect way to extend your vacation. They were told all of the usual things - blind, learning issues, etc. They have been blessed to have none of those issues, but she is a tiny little thing, as most premies tend to be.
