Yep same! I'm a terrible Aries and the rest of my chart is like, water and earth signs, so I find it really interesting to relate the non-Aries bits to that.

The soundtrack to my dad-related childhood is NPR generally and, on weekends, our local affiliate playing something called "Old Harv's Blues Review. "

Also as a small child, my mother lectured my father to stop playing so much Bob Dylan around me because she was worried I'd turn up at school growling OOONE DAY YOUUU'LL BE IIIN THE DIIITCH, FLIIIIES BUZZING AROOOUND YOUR EEEYES at the other kids (which I did not, to the best of my knowledge, ever actually do).

See the shift made me a Pisces, which No, so I tend to ignore it, because I am the least Pisces human alive. Whereas I was always like "man idk I mean some of this Aries stuff is exactly correct but I'm too much of a pragmatic feelingsy homebody for all this firebrand shit" so adding Cancer to it was sort of... ah, okay.

Aries with a bunch of Cancer in my chart trying to buy a home and let my life settle in and figure out where my relationship is going. Said relationship is with a Gemini with a bunch of Virgo in his chart who is new to this whole serious relationship thing and how compromise works. So, y'know. OOF on both those combos.

(Am I the only one who likes horoscopes way better when they look at their ascendant sign etc too? I'm the shittiest Aries so it makes it feel more interesting to me to look at other stuff in my chart and try to tie it together.)

I don't know if this is universally a good idea or not, but I tend to lay my cards on the table on, like, the first date. Massive anxiety disorder, depressive spells, dead mom. And how people react to the initial disclosure of that trauma has proved a pretty good bellwether for how they will be with the actual uglier bits of my mental health.

I did not go on another date with the man who paused for 45 seconds then told me about the comic book he's writing.

I am still with the one who half-sheepishly asked if it was okay to just give me a hug, and told me how impressed with my ability to survive he was in a way that somehow wasn't condescending.

(He also struggles with mental health in ways that are both different to and similar to mine, and we are both still learning how to navigate that, so also I really appreciated this article! But yeah. Empathy is a good metric in my experience.)
