You are then on the jailbreak train (3GS Old Bootrom) which can allow custom ipsw for 4.0.1 to be installed for jailbreak but there is no ultrasn0w unlock yet for 4.0.1 released. The new jailbreak and unlock that is on the way will support jailbreak and unlock of 4.0 and 4.0.1 but will required a clean restore (and activated normally through itunes) phone.
