I predict Sleepy Joe will have a forgetful moment in a crucial debate when the country is watching, and this will (possibly unfairly) give the wider idea that he is past it, and not sharp enough any more to handle a job this big at such a crucial time. Bob Dole suffered the same fate against Clinton when he fell forward off a stage during a rally in 1996. He never recovered.

I agree with all but especially this last point, which people seem to be missing. This was a classic test of strength of the government v the press. And the govt won. The press didn’t get the scalp they most wanted. Since the Blair era every government (including our own) has fainted like a wet lettuce when they came up against the press and so the press became more and more powerful. This episode has reduced their influence and reminded us that it is the government in charge and not the press. If the Tory Party holds together there is f**k all they can do. Loyalty as we know is our secret weapon. It was used this time to good effect. Go Boris

Not interested one bit in the opinion of someone who is neither a conservative nor any longer in a position of responsibility. Would we like the thoughts of our window cleaner? I’m sure he’d be happy to share his thoughts...at least unlike DG he is a Tory.

It was a great speech. “When you are sick the whole country gathers at your bedside”. What a beautiful phrase. It was lovely to be at conference wanting to hear a speech rather than doing so out of duty.

What a load of rubbish. You think we should run the country according to opinion polls? How did Prime Minister Miliband or President Clinton get on? Nonsense on stilts.

No. You will be blamed if we don’t leave on the 31st, and quite rightly so. You will be held to account for your actions, and they will not be forgotten. You are not a Conservative and that is proven by the fact that you are so clearly enjoying your 15 minutes of fame, entirely at the expense of the Conservative Party. However I’m sure that the voters of South West Hertfordshire think you are such an asset to them, that when you present yourself as an Independent candidate at the forth-coming election they will reward you with another 19,000 majority. Let’s see shall we?

This article tells us nothing we didn’t already know.

Staggeringly it also fails to mention the colossal elephant in the room, namely the disastrous leadership of our useless Prime Minister.

Brandon you can do better than this, and so can we, The Conservative Party.

Good luck...you will be an inspiration to many no doubt. When the party rediscovers its purpose and confidence (which despite all the doom and gloom it will) you will be able to play a vital role in helping it to reconnect with voters in your wider community, I wish you well
