I actually have a lot of empathy here with John. As much as I love Aeryn and I get where she is coming from, I feel like we have seen a power imbalence in their relationship that is finally slapping John on the face... After their time apart he has had time to examine the bad of how Aeryn makes him feel as well as the good. She loved him, he loves her, she is a main driver for him in everything he does... But is she ready and willing to be as open with him as he was ready with her? Can she give him full trust and vulnerability, no longer be emotionally withholding? Maybe she is now, but I can see how he could not be sure... considering her lack of upfront disclosures and displays of emotional trust since her return. This does not mean she is a bad person or John thinks she is. I have been in a couple relationships where I saw that imbalance was hurting me and had to speak up and pull back to protect my mental well being, so that is likely coloring my interpretation.

Yes, I really enjoy how much sense it actually makes while it seems so wrongheaded from the audience and other crew perspective. Here is a stranger who saved her life, lots of people have vivid passionate reactions to him, he's part Scarren... He seems competent, rationale, polite, measured, strategic. Why wouldn't she be intrigued and want to know the mystery man better?

RIP Harvey. He really did have a different relationship with MoyaJohn and it is painful to see him go. I undersyand that John deserves his own privacy and dignity, but also I feel like Harvey believes he is real, has emotions, has desires... It feels like murder at this point and leaves no sense of pure victory for me.

I must admit that though I loved the season opener, this one loses me. Usually I am all for the Farscape dreammy chaos but where this one fails for me is that it wants to have all of the wacky mess but still I have to keep track of many variables and make sense of a convoluted plot. That just doesn't work. They should have stripped out Valla and the fish dude, or maybe stripped out the planet backstory.

This is not a classic per se but there's the first gay slasher film "Hellbent". I remember seeing this in the theatre about a decade ago when it was out limited release. It's low budget and not great but I love horror and I enjoyed seeing the genre stretched out of it's typical hetrocentric model.

I really enjoy the Jool scenes in this episode, but another thing that stands out strongly to me that I don't think gets mentioned as much is how different Moya!John's relationship is with Harvey. They're not friends, no, but they are closer now in the absence of other external support. Harvey wants John to take revenge because that is what drives Scorpius. He sees it as a source of strength and emotional fulfillment. And John seems to understand that Harvey was trying to help and even thanks him.

For me personally,I feel like this episode is a big deal because of the massive Scorpius revelvation and it feels like Jool is finally integrated into The Moya Crew. Plus Braca gets a bit more "real" for me as a person... A Sebacean... I get why he would follow Scorpius with such obvious dilligence and pride.

I have the same problem with the wizards, who I like in small doses but get bored with when they're on page too long. None of them stand out to me as fully fleshed out people. It's like the problem with the Star Wars prequels -- if you try to describe the characters in terms of personality (not just their jobs/story role), you realize there's nothing you can say. Though Rincewind is not a fav Discworld character for me, I will say that us readers do definitely understand his motivations, desires, weaknesses. (I still personally feel he's a bit 2-dimensional, but at least he has those minimal character notes!) I think what Pratchett is perhaps trying to do here with the wizards is portray group think and group behavior... they stand for "the masses" and that's why they aren't distinguished much from each other. But that doesn't work for me when you make them take center stage instead of a small subplot.

For me the random hook up with Jena is an example of typical Peacekeeper relationships/sexual experiences. And not at all what Crichton wants with Aeryn (despite her accusations of him wanting to satisfy his lusty feelings)... which is why it's so damn hard for her to agree to engage with him as anything other than a shipmate. That is the kind of romance that she could easily offer (stolen moments of sexual play and tenderness between bouts of soldiering & violence). Something deeper and with expectations of permanency and vulnerability... that's alien and terrifying. One thing I really love about how the John/Aeryn dynamic is handled is that the characters knowing they are in love with each other doesn't solve anything or mean they can or should be in a relationship right now. It's so much more complicated than that. The conflict was never anything simple like the typical forced miscommunication ('oh, she/he doesn't love me because I overheard this vague conversation/saw them flirting with someone else!). So the same trilogy where Aeryn accepts that she does very much want to know they are compatible (accepting that eventually she might want partnership & babies with him) is the trilogy where John has given in & given up the active pursuit he'd started.. and so at the end he has let her walk away without challenging her to take action on the potential sweetness between them. Scorpius insisting that D’Argo doesn’t understand the power of the Crichton/Scorpius ship! (He totally ships himself with Crichton. Bless you, Mark. Shipping Scorpius/Crichton is completely and utterly wrong BUT I DON'T WANT TO BE RIGHT.

I find that so far I'm really perking up and focusing when it comes to Conina and Rincewind's scenes and then my mind starts drifting off when it comes to Coin and the university... Conina is really fun and I want the Luggage to be bequeathed to her after their adventure because I think Luggage would enjoy being a hairdresser's storage of job type accessories as well as an occasional assistant thief and assassin. I swear, when I read the first 2 books Rincewind put me to sleep but Mark's super readery powers have been at work because I'm really warming up to Rincewind in this book. It helps a lot that Mark likes him so much and points out why while he's reading.

This is one of my fav episodes to rewatch. It's fun, well paced, with wacky humor and also a bit of pathos. I love John with the boob bouncing because it reminds me of the rambling discussions I've had over the years with groups of friends where people expand on what you would do if you suddenly had different sex organs for a day (generally very silly things).

I am of two minds about whether this one should have been the season premiere, as originally planned. On one hand, I get that this isn't the strongest episode and doesn't work for everyone. On the other hand, I like there to be more lasting consequence from a big finale like we had in season 1. I hate when the cliffhanger is resolved in the first 30 minutes of the next season. So from that perspective it would have been way more satisfying to see an episode of Moya's adventures without our presumed dead friends. I like the added tension and suspense, as well as the friendship feels from Dream A Little Dream.
